((Hanger, Pirate Moon))
The landing had been relatively uneventful, which was fine with Gwen - she was no fighter pilot and the thought of having to avoid some sort of border control craft had not been high of the list of things she wanted to do when she woke up.
Now, in the hanger, she felt more at home - ashore and ready to do her job. Luckily they had landed in a hanger without a ton of other vessels and the number of people milling about was minimal, not empty, but minimal enough to keep her from worrying too much about unknowns wandering in on them.
Falt: Okay, let's gather our things and move out. Warrant Officer Kingsley, I want you on point, please.
Kingsley: Aye sir.
She gathered her day pack and slipped it onto her back and tightened the strap of her tactical tricorder to her wrist - hidden in a bracer on her left wrist.
Falt: Mister Dekas, can you lock the shuttle down behind us. I don’t want anyone breaking in to have a look around and blowing our cover.
A quick look around and she was able to see what appeared to be the main exit from the hanger - a wide doorway with what looked like an information desk of some sort partitioned off next to it and a large, noisy crowd beyond. She assumed the crowd was the market itself.
Dekas: Absolutely.
She began leading them towards the opening, keeping an eye and ear out for anyone who might be approaching.
Falt: I’m not getting anything yet. Let’s go to the market and have a look around.
She nodded and moved away, nodding toward the opening, indicating the direction they should go. Before they got far there was a sound from behind, big, burly, humanoid. She glanced over her shoulder and her eyes went wide as two very large Nausicaans came their way. They didn't look happy, but she had never seen a happy Nausicaan.
First Nausicaan: ::pointing to a badge on his huge chest:: Market Security. That’s a nice ship. It’s a good job we’re here, it would be… unfortunate… if something happened to it.
She sighed and rolled her eyes - this was going to be a pretty standard protection racket, and now she was going to have to depend on the Science Officer to get them out of it.
Gwen had packed a phaser of course, a compact hand model, but brandishing it at this early stage pretty much guaranteed the mission was over. Still she reached to the small tear away pouch in the bottom of her bag, ready to retrieve it if necessary.
Second Nausicaan: We can keep a close watch on it for you if you want? For the right price of course.
Dekas: Ah, but minding your own business is free and sourced locally. Nice of you to offer, though.
She shook her head - snarky could be useful in situations like this; it could also escalate the situation in an instant.
Kingsley: What would this 'protection' cost us?
Falt/Nausicaans: Response
Dekas: We really, really should be going now. Very busy.
She looked at the Aurelian and bit her lip.
oO Or, maybe the Engineer .... Oo
Kinglsey: ::softly, to Falt:: We could pay them on the way out.
She gave him a knowing look, hoping he would get the message.
Falt/Any: Response
They moved far enough away, toward the exit, a small group was being motioned through. It wasn't clear what the personnel was looking for, but they seemed fairly lackadaisical. Either they were looking for something in particular and hadn't seen it yet, or they were not paid well enough. She'd take either.
Dekas: Sorry, I panicked.
Falt: Response
Kingsley: ::without looking back:: No one knows what they are going to do until they are in the moment.
oO Hopefully, that you break the right way. Oo
Dekas/Falt: Response
They were mostly through the doorway, confronted with a massive, very crowded, cluster of merchants selling who knew what. It seemed to be a who's who of species, Romulans, Feringi, an inordinate number of Orion and Nausicaans, and a number of species she did not recognize.
The room was roughly spoke and wheel shaped with tables, booths, and other displays jammed between the crowded walkways. Her wrist vibrated, and a quick serendipitous glance told her there was a cluster of surveillance equipment at the center of the room.
She caught the eye of Falt and Dekas then touched her own eye then pointed toward the raised platform in the center of the room.
