Captain Oddas Aria: Juneau Ribbons and Promotions

The Bajoran set the dessert down on the bar with a side eye glance to the bartender, signalling it should be saved. With the attendance of the entire crew, including the XO it was time to get to the crux of the matter, braving Aria's major fear.  She approached the podium and gripped the lightly colored podium lightly and let it run between her fingers as she glanced at the PADD that had been placed there, notes for her to address the crew.

She took a deep breath and began.

Oddas: Crew of the Juneau, thank you for coming, I appreciate you taking the time out of your hard-earned shore leave in order to come and let a grateful Command Staff award you for all your hard work.  ::she paused and smiled at her own small bit of humor:: One of the greatest joys a commanding officer has is to recognize the efforts of the crew, let them know what they did well, and all the ways they did the ship, crew, and service proud.

Aria paused to look at the crew, moving each to another and giving them a smile and a nod.

Oddas: To start, Starfleet Command has awarded the entire crew the Peacekeeper Service Ribbon and the Joint Meritorious Unit Award.  These awards are given when a crew works toward a peaceful solution and does so by working with a non-Federation force, it upholds the ideals of Starfleet and the Federation.  I have come to expect nothing less of the Juneau, but your work with DaiMon Kaybay and the newly established Jem'Hadar Colony was nothing less than inspired.  Thank you all!

She paused and gave a small round of applause.

Iovianus: Response

Oddas: While she has been called away on important business, I do want the record to reflect Mister Rel has been awarded the Silver Lifesaving Ribbon for her work saving her shipmates.  While saving lives is part of her job, her tenacity and dedication is a credit to her job and loyalty to her crew.  

She paused for a moment.  She knew, hoped, Rel's work would bring her to the Juneau shortly.

Oddas: If I could have Mister Kendrick and Commander T'Lea join me at the podium? ::she paused for the officers to start moving:: During the mission these two officers, along with the aforementioned Lieutenant Rel, gave their Commanding Officer, a bit of a heart attack when they got themselves captured by the DaiMon.  While they did eventually escape, being taken prisoner is also, I know from experience, not a fun experience for those involved either.  To that end, Mister Kendrick, Commander T'Lea, and Mister Rel, are awarded the Prisoner of War Ribbon.

She handed each small wooded box to the sound of applause and shook their hand, nodding and smiling as she did so.

T'Lea/Kendrick: Response

Iovianus: Response

Oddas: Not so fast you two.  :: she motioned for the two officers to wait:: Mister Kendrick, you broke one of the cardinal rules of the Juneau - you got hurt.  I'm going to need you to stop doing that.  That said, you did so in the line of duty and because of that, you have been awarded the Purple Heart, please do not make a habit of it. 

Iovianus: Response  

Kendrick: Response

Aria joined in with the applause.

Oddas: Commander T'Lea, I am going to ask you to shoulder some extra responsibilities.  Effective Immediately you are promoted to Chief Science Officer, a role I know you will excel at, though I'm not sure that you need the extra authority going to your head.

T'Lea: Response

Iovianus: Response

Oddas: Mister Kendrick, Your dedication to your crew, the ship, and your post, has not gone unnoticed.  To that end, effective immediately, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Junior Grade, with all the rights and responsibilities thereto.  Congratulations.

Aria opened the small box and then pinned a hollow pip to the young man's collar before shaking his hand.

Iovianus: Response

Oddas: Good luck Lieutenant Kendrick.  Thank you again everyone - thank you for doing the work you do, for putting in the hard work to make the Juneau the best ship in the fleet, and for making your Captain look good.

With that, she led the room in another round of applause, before stepping out from behind the podium and back into the crowd.
