OOC: Takes place the day after the mission.
((Primary Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Juneau))
Though she wasn’t overly fond of Sickbay and tried to avoid ending up here at all costs, it was just a part of the job. Over the years, doctors had managed to sink in that it was better to stay ahead of possible problems than to let them go trying to be tough and work through it herself. Some issues didn’t go away on their own and needed a little extra TLC
Indobri: Any lingering injuries from yesterday? I know you got knocked about pretty well.
Leix: Mostly healed. Still a bit sore though. But a pain reliever should fix that right up.
Indobri: Of course. Looks like from your records that you got pretty banged up yesterday. And I thought Marines were supposed to be tough.
The woman’s playful smirk drew a grin from Zaaia and she laughed. Nirria could certainly hold her own. Once Kendrick had been settled into Sickbay, she’d sought the woman out and they’d talked for a good bit. The Nuvian had more potential than the freighter could offer. She was smart and quick on her feet. “Starfleet could use solid engineers like you”, she’d told her. The conversation had ended with Zaaia giving her the contact information for a friend of hers at the Academy and a PADD with the application. She didn’t know what the woman would do with it, but she hoped Nirria would at least consider it.
Leix: ::grins:: Yeah. It certainly felt more like a shuttle than a person. ::fingers her lip:: Busted me a good one. I can hold my own in a fight, but this woman was scrappy.
Indobri: I would say so.
She sat patiently as the doctor ran another more thorough scan. It was taking a bit of effort to stay awake. Last night had been a late night finishing up her AAR. She’d wanted to get it done ASAP. One of the other Marines had asked her to switch shifts so they could catch up on some sleep and she’d figured it would be a good opportunity to get ahead of the paperwork curve. However, it seemed to be catching up with her.
Indobri: Well, you’re certainly tougher than me, Major. I am very athletic, but my people tend to shun violence. This last mission certainly stretched me to new levels of discomfort.
Leix: ::nods:: I can understand that. But I was exposed to the dregs of humanity at a young age and learned that there are times where you just can’t avoid it.
Indobri: Response
Leix: ::grins:: Well, more power to you, Doc. Everyone has a job to do. Some way they’ve been gifted to help. Yours is fixing people up. Mine is putting myself in the line of fire so they don’t need to be.
Indobri: Response
She studied the woman for a long moment, lost in thought. Honestly, she couldn’t remember considering anything but Starfleet. As a younger, less jaded girl, she might have fancied a life as a xenoanthropologist, traveling to unexplored worlds and uncovering priceless artifacts, but that dream had died with her parents.
Indobri: Response
Leix: ::smiles wanly and shakes her head:: I’m good. Just lost in dreams of the past. But the now is what’s important.
