Major Zaaia Leix: A Bit of Shopping

After unpacking everything, she’d noticed how sparse her quarters had felt. She was so used to life on a starship that she didn’t tend to collect a lot of things. It made it easier when she was unexpectedly reassigned. But something about living on a station felt more permanent, as though giving her permission to make the space her own. Though she was no interior designer, she knew what she liked: unique artifacts and cultural pieces. That was what her quarters lacked.
She’d stopped at a few different vendors, hoping that they would be widely traveled enough to have something along the lines of what she was seeking. So far, she hadn’t found any artifacts but had found a lovely pair of subtle textured copper throw blankets for her couch and chair as well as a set of geometric brown and rustic brown pillows.
As she was rounding a corner to take the street into the next section of the market, she spotted Dekas with three others. She vaguely recognized two of them from Fleet Captain Oddas’ promotion ceremony and one from her time on the bridge.
She paused, a little uncomfortable at approaching the group, but decided to be social, hoping she wasn’t interrupting anything.
Leix: Lieutenant Dekas! What a pleasant surprise.

Leix: ::lifts her bags:: Just a bit of shopping. My quarters are looking sparse, so I thought it could use a few more personal touches. I’d hoped to find some interesting artifacts, but haven’t really found anything that stands out to me just yet.

Though the interaction was new and a bit uncomfortable, it was pleasant. She’d learned long ago that she needed to force herself outside of her comfort zone if she was going to connect with people. For the most part, she did pretty well in social situations. But every so often, she would have a hard time finding topics, particularly when she didn’t know the people she was with all that well.
