((Fairbanks, Denali Station, Ring 42))

Hesitantly, Zaaia opened the door and was pleasantly surprised. Though the furniture was haphazardly placed, it was in relatively good condition. All the place needed was some feng-shui and maybe a coat or two of paint. She’d just begun to formulate a plan in her head when a voice behind her caught her attention.

Kingsley: Taking stock, sir?

Leix: ::grins unamusedly:: Better condition than I expected, honestly. Though I got the impression that this part of the city had been better maintained, I still expected it to be more of a disaster.

Kingsley: I think 'better maintained' might have a different meaning here in the city than we're used to, but nothing a little hard work and creative wiring can't solve.

She chuckled. Perhaps her standards were low, but that could partly be blamed on lowering her expectations to spare herself disappointment. It was a tactic she’d learned from a young age–a defense mechanism of sorts. Being orphaned on the verge of adolescence had taught her in a harsh way that life often was far from fair and that it certainly wasn’t rainbows and butterflies. No. Better to prepare for disappointment than to have to face the shock.

Leix: ::offers a hand:: Major Zaaia Leix. I’ll be taking over command of the contingent here on Ring 42.

Kingsley: ::shaking:: Warrant Officer Gwen Kingsley, Cyber Warfare, at your service.   I take it Major Han is being transferred?

Leix: From my understanding, Major Han will be transferring to Strat Ops.

Kingsley: Good for him.  I have been spending a few hours this morning to try and get some computing power down here - unless you would like me to do something else?

Leix: ::shakes her head:: Sounds like you’re on top of things and know what we need. ::pauses:: But when you wrap what you’re working on, maybe you could take a peek at my new office to see if there’s anything critical that it needs. Engineer I am not.

Kingsley: Hmmm, just more ODN connections, but we'll probably have to wait until things settle down.  We can get some basic things working until then.

Leix: ::nods:: Of course. As long as I can get reports done without worrying I will lose what I’m working on, I should be fine for the moment.

While Kingsley’s mind was on their immediate needs, hers was already down the road crafting a checklist of administrative duties that would need to be done. Of course, that would require reading up more on her team. After all, she was going to need to draft up duty rotations and such. More than likely, she’d end up taking at least one, maybe two, Gamma shifts a week because she wasn’t the sort to have her people do something she wasn’t willing to do herself.

Kingsley: Response

Leix: ::smiles wanly:: Sorry. Still so much to do administrative taskwise. My mind has been going a dozen lightyears a second since the Captain told me I’d be stepping up for Major Han.

Kingsley: Response
