(OOC: Going to finish off Neshala’s and get Lumm going in the same post. Sometimes I’m efficient.)
((XO’s Office, Floor 15, Anchorage Tower, Denali Station))
Qinn: With the large amount of research happening there is an equally large amount of communications going back and forth with a seemingly endless number of research institutions back in the Federation. You’re going to have a bunch of scientists who think their research is the most important research begging, if not demanding, for every last bit of bandwidth you have.
Neshala: Well, that certainly sounds like a worthy challenge, Commander.
Qinn: Some of them are ok, but some can be worse than some Admirals I’ve met.
Neshala: Meet many of them, have you?
Qinn: A few. I spent a good chunk of time on Starbase 74, every so often they’d come through on a tour, or to get an update on some research project or another.
Neshala: Nothing meant by it, sir. I was just trying to break the ice and perhaps get to know you a bit better. If I pushed too far, my apologies.
Kalia smiled, she’d heard the words, but the intention behind it wasn’t accusatory or hostile.
Qinn: No worries, Lieutenant. I doubt any of them would remember me, I was just a face in the background.
Neshala: Response
Qinn: You don’t have any fear of heights do you? It’s a question I’ve suddenly found I need to start asking with some of the apartments up at the top of the buildings. For a bunch of people comfortable with the vastness of space, we’ve found a few personnel that are not comfortable with heights.
Neshala: Response
(OOC: assuming the answer will be no based on the adrenaline junkie pastimes in her bio)
Kalia nodded and made a few notes on her PADD. Quarters were assigned to the lieutenant on one of the upper floors of Anchorage. She looked up when her doorbell chimed once again.
Qinn: Enter!
The door parted open and a young ensign entered the room, just over the threshold.
Lumm: Hello Sir, Ensign Lumm, reporting for duty.
Qinn: Welcome, Ensign, please come in and take a seat ::Gesturing at the other, open, seat across from her at her desk::. One second, I’m just finishing up with Lieutenant Neshala.
Lumm/Neshala: Response
Kalia slid the PADD with the Lieutenant’s assignment back across the table to her. It was always an interesting contrast, bringing aboard experienced officers versus new ensigns directly out of the Academy.
Qinn: You should be all set, Lieutenant, quarters have been assigned and your clearances are active. Unless you have any questions, you’re free to get settled and get the lay of the land.
Neshala: Response
(OOC: We can slip in an extra line or two here if Neshala does have a question)
As Neshala left, Kalia turned her attention to Ensign Lumm. She smiled at the young woman and leaned forward in her chair, holding out her hand.
Qinn: Do you have your orders with you, Ensign?
Lumm: Response
Kalia took the PADD and ran her gloved fingers over the surface, listening as the contents were read out in her aural implants. Once she’d listened to the orders she smiled and leaned back.
Qinn: Excellent, a new HCO officer. I should have had Neshala stay, they are a new Comms and Helm officer as well, although their focus is in Communications. I hope your trip out here was quiet and peaceful?
Lumm: Response
Qinn: That’s good to hear. You’ve been assigned as an Helm, Communications, Operations Officer, but obviously your specialty is at the helm. And I do think you’ll get your flight time in. We’ve got quite a fleet of shuttles and runabouts at our disposal, as well as the Eagle, and potentially the Juneau if necessary. When you’re not piloting, you’ll likely spend a lot of time in Flight control managing the air space around the city and above it.
Lumm: Response
Qinn: So, tell me a little about yourself, Ensign. I like to know who’s I’m going to be working closely with.
Lumm: Response
