OOC – I’m going to explore a bit more of Ensign Falt’s background in a couple of SIM’s this shore leave, this is part 1.

((Central Mall, Lightside Station, 06:00))

Tomas stood in the middle of Lightside Station’s Central Mall. It was the first time he had been there, or for that matter set foot on Lightside Station. It was a pretty enough place, his mother would have appreciated it, but it was far too manicured for his liking. He preferred his environment wild and unkempt, not artificially pristine.

Tomas lent on a tree and waited. It was a real tree but had been pruned into what someone thought was a perfect “tree” shape. He sighed. He hadn’t intended to leave the ship at all this shore leave, let alone get up at 05:30 to spend time in a jumped up garden. He had only recently arrived on the Juneau and he had wanted to use down the time to familiarize himself more with his new posting. Then he had received a cryptic message, text only, from his father on Earth.

Lightside Station - Central Mall - 06:00 – Do Not Open Until Back On Ship

Tomas briefly wondered how his father could have known that the Juneau had docked at the station two days ago. He guessed he had simply retained someone local to watch for her arrival and report it to him. Given his line of work it made complete sense.

His father was a project manager who specialized in the construction and refit of space stations. As a civilian, and one that had never been in Starfleet, he had worked on contracts for species across the Alpha and Beta quadrants. He had a huge list of contacts and Tomas would have been stunned if his network didn’t include Lightside Station.

It occurred to Tomas for the first time that his father’s contacts might come in handy now he was out here. In fact, he was fairly sure one of them was approaching him. He knew his father contracted for the Rigelian Trade Commission on occasion and a Rigelian male was walking directly toward him. He straightened up.

Rigelian: Falt?

Tomas nodded but the Rigelian simply held out a sleek device slightly larger than a padd. It had a biometric hand scanner on it’s upper surface which Tomas placed his left hand on. The device emitted a simple electronic tone.

Rigelian: Speak

Falt: Why?

The device must have needed additional voice verification as the screen under Tomas’ hand turned green. This seemed to satisfy the Rigelian.

Rigelian: Take it. No Transporter.

The Rigelian left Tomas holding the device and wordlessly walked off in the direction he had come from. Tomas sighed again, turned in the opposite direction, and began the walk back to the ship.

oO You heard the man, no transporter Oo
