OOC: Joining Commander Williams for a last bit of fun for this mission. I’ve kept it so Falt and Williams will still be able to join in with activities on the bridge once we reach the JAC lab properly.

((Bridge, Deck 1, USS Juneau))

Tito: Do you think we should increase the metaphysic shielding Captain. I don’t want to strain our systems with everything we are doing.

Tomas double checked the results of his earlier calculations.

Falt: I've run the numbers and it shouldn't be necessary. The amount of power we're about to put into the internal force field emitters should amplify the flute's signal sufficiently to reach the entire ship, without the need to extend the current metaphasic shield wider than engineering.

Williams: Now that we know its not an outside force we can lower our defenses, that would give is a but more power to work with.

Oddas: Understood. Divert some of that power to the structural integrity field.  Mister Falt, I want the internal sensors monitoring those micro fissures, if they intersect anything critical or seem to be growing work with Lieutenant Tito to direct more power to the affected areas.

Tito: Understood Captain.

Tomas went back to checking the Cagnal database before he was distracted by Commander T'Lea's voice on the comline. This time he could not detect any trace of the previous frustration he had heard in her voice.

T’Lea: =/\=  T’Lea to Bridge.  Operation is complete. =/\=

Oddas: =/\= Good work Commander. =/\=

Tito: Now it’s on Commander Qinn’s side. And on Ensign’s Essa music talent.

Tomas finished checking the last few entries in the Cagnal database, nothing. He sighed in frustration

Falt: Whilst Ensign Essa should be able to close the rifts I can't find anything in the Cagnal database to suggest what caused them in the first place. ::To Oddas:: Sir, it seems unlikely there isn't going to be a link to another artefact. I suggest going to the JAC lab's and running some detailed scans, last thing we need is for new rifts to open as soon as Ensign Essa stops playing.

Williams: Happy to go with you. I am not much of a scientist but I do know my way around ancient artifacts. Plus, its better to go in with two. One could easily get distracted by new hallucinations.

Tomas nodded to the man in thanks, truth be told he hadn't been looking forward to making the trip on his own.

Oddas: I agree, its also possible the radiation from the nebulae out there :: crooking a thumb in the general direction of outside the ship :: is causing the :: beat :: manifestations.

Tomas quickly entered the commands needed to enable access to his bridge station from the JAC lab.

Falt: ::to Oddas:: We’ll keep a comline open and I’ve enabled remote access to the bridge science station from the JAC lab so we can monitor and assist you from there if needed.

Tito: Response

Oddas: ::sharply:: I need the ship steady, then we scan the ship interior for any sources of the fractures.  We can't do anything with a ship that is falling apart.

Falt: Aye Sir.

Any: Response

Commander Williams headed for the turbolift and Tomas fell in behind him.  Tomas stepped in as the doors opened and nearly tripped over a Borg drone. It was lying motionless on the floor, with only movement in it’s assimilation tubes suggesting it was still active.

Falt: Oh great… the Borg.

Williams: Well… we know its not real. So I doubt we will need to worry about it.

Falt: Agreed. Regardless, I hope it hasn’t bought any friends with it.

Williams: JAC Lab!

The doors closed and Tomas felt the familiar sensation of brief negative g as the turbolift started it’s descent. Seconds later two things happened almost simultaneously.  The Borg drone jerked and started to stand, and Commander Williams’s fist slammed into it’s head, sending it sprawling to the floor.

Williams: And stay down!

Tomas started at the now motionless Borg, his brain still processing what he’d just seen. It had happened so fast he couldn’t even be sure Commander Williams hadn’t actually started his swing before the Borg had moved. He vocalized the first coherent thought that entered his head.

Falt: ::in awe at Commander Williams:: Didn’t that hurt, sir

They continued there rapid descent, the only sound in the turbolift a faint mechanical whirring from the downed drone.

((Corridor Leading to JAC Lab, Deck 8, USS Juneau))

A brief sensation of positive g indicated the turbolift was stopping. As the doors opened the atmosphere changed, it was suddenly warm and very humid. His view of the corridor was blocked by the Commander but he had a pretty good idea of what was out there.

Williams: Are you kidding me…..

As Tomas stepped out of the turbolift his suspicion was confirmed. His eyes took in the eerie green glow from the row of a dozen Borg alcoves that now lined the corridor, each one occupied with a currently dormant drone.  Two Borg consoles protruded from the floor, Tomas thought they looked like they had grown almost organically from the deck plating. He suddenly felt very out of his depth.

Williams: Response.

Falt: Hallucinations or not, we’ll need to get past them to get to the JAC lab. If I remember my Borg training at the academy they should ignore us if they don’t see us as a threat.

Williams: Response

Tomas listened to the conversation on the open comline as they began creeping past the Borg.

Qinn: =/\=Transporter room 3 to bridge.  We’re prepared to feed you detailed scans across all spectrums of the music that Ensign Essa is playing as well as any other particle emissions.=/\=

Indobri: =/\= Response =/\=

Oddas: =/\= Report Doctor. =/\=

Deveaux: =/\= Response =/\=

It sounded like they close to transmitting Ensign Essa’s signal across the ship. It couldn’t come quick enough for Tomas, sneaking past all these Borg was getting to him, even if they were just visions. He reached the door to the JAC lab and entered the access code. What he saw next stopped him dead in his tracks.

Oddas: =/\= Doctor Indobri, Standby. Oddas to Crew, prepare for =/\=

Tomas was only just aware of the Captain on the comline, confused as he was by the sight in front of him. The familiar layout of the JAC lab had been replaced by an empty room, smoke filled and lit by the eerie green Borg light. A single figure stood there, it’s back to them. Tomas couldn’t determine if it was Borg or not, but something about it was odd.

Williams: Response

Oddas: =/\= prepare for maneuvers, brace yourself.  Bridge, monitor for any issues. Doctor, Commander Quinn, execute. =/\=

Tomas became aware of movement above him. A Borg device was lowering an object toward the odd looking figure. For a second or two he couldn’t make out what it was, but as it got closer to the figure he realised what was going on. His blood ran cold.

oO Now would be a really, really, good time to stop these visions Oo

Now complete with head, the figure turned to face them.

Borg Queen: I am the beginning. The end. The one who is many. I am Borg.

Falt: Well, to whom do we owe this vision.

Williams: Response

Any: Response
