(( Forward Lounge, USS Invicta ))
::Setting his drink on top of the piano Saveron slid onto the pianist’s
stool and set long fingers to the keys. A moment later Beethovan’s Bagatelle
No. 25 in A minor - more commonly known simply as ‘Für Elise’ – began to float
through the air.::
::The Vulcan played for some time, the deceptively gentle tones of that
particular style of piano fitting with the spacious yet comfortable nature of
the Lounge. When a shadow fellow across the piano he paused in his playing and
looked up.::
Farquan: My dear Vulcan, what delicate fingers you have! Is that not a human instrument you’re
playing?
::The Vulcan in question was not accustomed to being referred to as ‘my
dear’, nor indeed complimented; an unusual experience. This was neither a
Starfleet crewmember nor, he assumed, a civilian researcher. At least he didn’t
think so. He accepted the other man’s words with his usual stoicism and
addressed the question.::
Saveron: Affirmative. ::He allowed.:: It is a Bösendorfer Concert Grand Piano, modelled on an
original built in Terran Year 1823.
::The provision of further
information was Vulcan courtesy.::
Farquan: And you’ve mastered it.
Then again, I’ve yet to meet a Vulcan who didn’t master at least, oh…
seven and a half disciplines. Any less
would be illogical, yes?
:: He let out a boisterous, loud laugh, and thumped a hand up against
the piano several times. ::
Saveron: I am unaware of a statistical average, however you are
correct. There is little logic in learning a skill to rudimentary levels only.
::Vulcans didn’t tend to be Jacks of all Trades.::
Saveron: I do not believe that we have been introduced.
Farquan: Oh, of course, of course!
My name is Farquan. :: A little unsteadily, he backed up, and offered
the Vulcan an elaborate bow. :: Diplomatic Envoy from Edo, here to get to know
your crew, and this region. And your
name, mister Vulcan?
::Having paused in his playing, Saveron rose briefly to his feet and
bowed politely in turn.::
Saveron: I am called Saveron, and am a Xenobiologist recently
transferred from the USS Garuda. I am
honoured to meet you. You are the Edo representative in the Corridor then?
Farquan: Response?
::As they spoke Saveron set his hands to the piano’s keyboard again,
one of Mozart’s piano concertos, played softly so that they might speak over
the top of it.::
Saveron: I am curious. How do you find travelling the Galaxy, away from
both your ‘God’ and your mediators?
::The Edo had an interesting social system, quite fascinating from an
anthropological point of view. Saveron trusted that the diplomat brought no
aspect of his legal system aboard the Invicta.::
Farquan: Response?
Saveron: I have not had the opportunity to visit Rubicon III. Such
would be interesting. What would you consider to be the foremost location to
visit?
Farquan: Response?
