(( Cochtois Lagoon - Deluvia IV ))
Sitting at a table in the latest bar with another fantastic view of the beach and the ocean, the officers had been wondering how the locals viewed the natural beauty of the planet. They were also waiting for the arrival of an additional guest who Maezel was
excited to meet.
Fenn: ::gesturing around:: There’s also plenty of other Selkies around here maybe we could ask them instead?
Neathler: I’m in favour of letting the people enjoy their meal. Maybe we can ask someone when we leave.
Maezel noticed her slipping into that stereotypical Bolian persona that she’d been working on suppressing a little. The Commander was right, people should enjoy their meals. She was sure there would be an opportunity to quiz the locals about their home at some
point.
Marshall: Response
Neathler: I was thinking, opening a restaurant is another way to settle down and still keep in touch with people from different worlds. Especially in a place like this.
Fenn: True though I imagine it’s a lot of work if it’s this busy every night.
Marshall: Response
Neathler: There's already plenty of them, so I don't really…
Fenn looked up as Commander Neathler cut her sentence short. She saw a human woman approaching, about Maezel’s heigh with long, blonde hair. The similarity of her looks to the Commanding Officer of the Gorkon was not lost on Maezel and she wondered if they
were related in some way. The woman was accompanied by an animal, a dog, if Maezel remembered correctly – excitable, hairy quadrupeds with wet noses and overly active tongues, preferred by many humans as companions – this one with black and white fur.
Fenn: I’m assuming this is who we were waiting for.
Marshall: Response
Neathler: Your timing is perfect, Erin. We still have to order our food. ::She gave Erin some time to settle before she nodded towards Maezel.:: We thought we’d show our newest crewmember why we like to spend our shore leave on Deluvia.
Fenn: ::with a small wave:: Hello! Lovely to meet you. I’m Maezel, the new Science Officer. You must be Erin.
Marshall / Neathler / E. Reynolds: Response
As Erin took a seat at the table, the waiter came over to take their orders. As Maezel ordered a seafood salad and juice she could feel the dog sniffing at her feet, the wet nose tickling her ankles. This was a new experience for Maezel, she’d never had a pet
before and she didn’t know how interact with one properly, least of all a pet from a foreign world. She pulled her feet onto her chair, looking down at the dog with a quiet, nervous laugh.
Fenn: The dog...::nervous pause::...it is a dog, right? It seems very interested in me. What should I do?
Marshall / Neathler / E. Reynolds: Response
Fenn: He seems nice. They’re common as pets on Earth, right?
Maezel kept her feet on her chair, stealing a last look at the dog, which was now looking up at her still trying to sniff her. She was sure the dog did not present any danger but having it around would take a little getting used to.
Marshall / Neathler / E. Reynolds: Response
Fenn: ::looking back up at the others:: I’ve never had pets before. It’s a very human thing.
