((Primary Sickbay, Deck 7, USS Gorkon))

The procedure had been a success, Lieutenant Commander Sevo was stable and was recuperating under the watchful eye of V'Lar's nursing staff. It would be up to Ayiana as to how long she remained in sickbay but she would need to stay on restricted duties, she did though have a choice between wearing a neurocortical monitor or having regular check-ups. Either way she would be monitored, it was just a case of whether it would be directly or remotely. With her work done V'Lar headed to her office.

((Chief Medical Officer's Office, Deck 7, USS Gorkon))

Her first day aboard had, so far, been less orderly than she would have preferred. Her expectation for the role of Chief Medical Officer had been primarily administrative and would have allowed her a considerable time to focus on personal projects. Her primary ambition of being able to conduct medical research required her to have the time to actually pursue it. The reality so far had been very different. A summary of her duties thus far would include: an incomplete departmental survey, a failed field resuscitation of a Klingon national, the forensic examination of a crime scene, a vehicular crash as a result of remote sabotage and lastly brain surgery on a fellow senior officer.

oO The variance between my projected duties as a Chief Medical Officer and my actual first day aboard the Gorkon has, so far, been statistically significant. Oo

At her desk, she called up the files related to the investigation of the offices of 'The Glob Fly'. Before diving into the data, however, she attended to one final piece of personal business, replicating and then administering a nasal numbing agent. The action produced a sense of finality. She had restored some order to her immediate environment, even if that order was an illusion, masking the scent of her surroundings.

She was ready to begin her analysis when her combadge chirped, interrupting the quiet efficiency of her new domain.

Taelon: =/\= Commander V’Lar, the Admiral wishes to return to the planet as soon as possible. She requests your presence at Transporter Room One, if you’re available. =/\=

V'Lar processed the request. Despite the wording chosen, it was a summons and was not an inquiry. Had that not been the case, she would have instead assigned another member of her team so that she could continue her work. Her analysis of the crime scene data would have to wait.

V’Lar: =/\= This is V'Lar. I will be there momentarily. =/\=

With that she deactivated her terminal and recovered her medkit before leaving for the transporter room.

((Transporter Room 1, USS Gorkon))

V'Lar arrived at Transporter Room 1 to find Admiral Reynolds waiting. V'Lar was uncertain as to whether the Admiral intended for the two of them to beam down together or if more officers had been summoned to form an away team, if that were the case then the others had not yet arrived. She gave a short nod to the Admiral and took a position by the steps to the transporter platform. A moment later, the doors hissed open and a Trill officer in a gold uniform entered.

T. Sevo: Lieutenant Toran Sevo, reporting as ordered, sir. What’s the situation?

Toran Sevo. The name was familiar. She accessed her mental record of the crew manifest. An alternate-universe refugee. The Sevo symbiont, which she had just treated inside Lieutenant Commander Ayiana Sevo, had once been hosted by this man's deceased counterpart in this timeline. As a result, the Gorkon was now home to two versions of the Sevo symbiont, both in different hosts.

oO A curious situation. Oo

Before the new officer could be brought up to speed, they were cut short by the hurried arrival of Lieutenant Taelon. V'Lar noted the El-Aurian's flushed appearance and slightly elevated respiration.

Taelon: Admiral, Commanders - my apologies. I hope you’ve not been, um, waiting too long…

T. Sevo: Just got here myself, sir.

V’Lar: Your timeliness is noted, Lieutenant Taelon.

Reynolds: Response

Taelon: Oh, um, nice to meet you, sir.

T. Sevo: Oh no, I salute you, sir. I’m just a JG. ::He pointed to his single gold and single black pip.::

The brief confusion over rank was a minor inefficiency. V'Lar observed the interaction with detached curiosity

Reynolds: Response

Taelon: Do we have a bead on our informant’s location?

T. Sevo: By calling me, sir, I assume things are dangerous down there and you need more security? ::He asked Reynolds. ::

The conversation had correctly pivoted back to the mission parameters. V'Lar listened, ready to offer her own data should it become relevant.

Reynolds: Response

V’Lar:
We have already encountered multiple instances of aggression, it would be logical to anticipate further such danger.

She mentally cataloged the events so far including a multiple homicide and the sabotage of their vehicle which was likely intended to kill them. The assailants were operating with a high degree of lethality.

T. Sevo: Any special security arrangements I need to know about? From your quick briefing, it sounds like you suspect more assasination attempts down there?

The security officer's questions were logical and thorough. V'Lar internally approved of his methodical approach to risk assessment.

Reynolds / Taelon: Response

T. Sevo: Fully prepared, sir. Will we be beaming down to the last known location of this Ep’ehko directly?

Reynolds / Taelon: Response

V'Lar: Do we have any additional support available should we require it?

Her question was one of pure logistics. They had previously been cut off from support as a result of sabotage, there was a distinct possibility that they could similarly be isolated.

Reynolds / Taelon / T. Sevo: Responses

V'Lar performed a quick haptic check of her medkit, confirming its contents were fully restocked and secure. Her own preparedness was a constant state.

V'Lar: I am ready to proceed.

Reynolds / Taelon / T. Sevo: Responses

With everyone ready they promptly took their positions on the transporter pad.

Reynolds / Taelon / T. Sevo: Responses

With the transporter command given, she observed the faint shimmering in the air as the transporter beam engaged. From her perspective she remained stationary and intact whilst the transporter room dissolved into a chaotic stream of energised matter.
