(( Undersea Facility, Deep Trenches, Deluvia IV ))

Having accessed the facility and made their way to the control centre, Maezel had managed to switch the language of the main computer from Bolian to Federation standard. The information regarding the facility was still sparse though as it transpired that the facility was a mix of hardware and software from a number of different worlds.

Fenn: ::waving for the others to look at her screen:: So looking at the station’s various registries it looks like the main computer is of Bolian origin which explains the language, the hull is local to Deluvia and the other systems come from various places around the Federation. Whoever built this place and got all these components working together is an absolute genius.

Sevo: So this place is cobbled together from scrounged parts across the galaxy?

V’Lar: "Resourceful" may be a more appropriate designation. Regardless, it implies the lack of a standardised supply chain.

Sevo: I don’t see how a single person could do that. They must have a support network of some kind.

The idea of a network of somebodies was not welcome news for Maezel – scrounged parts, a non-standardised supply chain and a network that left deserted facilities at the bottom of the ocean – it sounded like some sort of criminal organisation. Not the kind of thing she’d particularly wanted to step into unarmed and on shore leave.

Fenn: Sounds sinister to say the least.

V’Lar: Agreed. The resources required to bore into the trench and pressure-seal the facility exceed the capacity of a lone individual.

Sevo: Aside from individuals, Pakled are proficient in cobbling together different technologies, but this place doesn’t feel right for it to be them.

V’Lar: The Pakleds steal technology and force its integration into other constructs. This architect appears to have adapted differing technologies for a singular purpose.

Fenn: I agree and it’s been done by someone or someones with a high level of technical knowhow.

In fact, Maezel could count on one hand the number of people she knew who could build something like this. It was sinister as heck in her mind but she did have to admit a level of respect was due to whoever constructed the place. She just hoped her feeling that they’d stumbled on something criminal was wrong.

Sevo: Is there a lab or some secret place in the lower levels where an evil genius might lurk

Fenn: ::tapping at her screen:: One moment, I’ll have a look at the blueprints.

V’Lar: The "Evil Genius" archetype is overly dramatic. If, however, this room is for operational control of the facility, the actual work of the facility will be elsewhere.

Fenn: The blueprints show labs and workshops on levels 3 and 4. Should we go and have a look?

Sevo: Response

V’Lar: Need I remind you that we are still not aware of the purpose of the facility nor its occupancy? To blindly proceed into the sub-levels without knowing what awaits us would be foolhardy. It would be logical to avail ourselves of the information available to us within this room before proceeding further.

The Commander wasn’t wrong, caution was warranted and information was their only weapon right now. That said, they’d come aboard to find out what was going on and at some point they would have to leave the control centre and explore.

Fenn: I understand what you’re saying and while we do have supervisory access here, the best way to figure out what this place is for is to go to where they do whatever it is they do here.

Sevo: Response

V’Lar: If this is indeed an operational control centre then it may be possible to access the facilities operational logs as well as key systems such as communications and internal sensors.  Do you concur with this approach?

oO Ok that is actually a good idea Oo

Fenn: ::tapping away on her screen:: So internal sensors are showing four life signs aboard. Us three and one other in the main science lab on level 3. Possibly your “Evil Genius” Commander Sevo.

Sevo: Responses

V’Lar: If, indeed, an "Evil Genius" is present, I am confident they will remain in situ, patiently awaiting our arrival.

If the life sign was the evil genius then Maezel didn’t want to run the risk of a potential confrontation. As a Bolian, risking the team was something unimaginable. She took another look at the facility blueprints to see if there is anything that could aid them.

Fenn: It might be worth mentioning there’s a security office with a weapons locker one deck down. I would recommend we swing by there first to see if whoever was last here left a phaser or something.

Sevo / V’Lar: Response

Fenn: I’m a scientist, not a security officer; my ability to fight someone is limited. If whoever is down there wants to take exception to us being on their station, then a weapon might come in handy.

Sevo / V’Lar: Response
