((Holodeck 8, Deck 9, USS-Gorkon))
Normally he’d be wearing a pair of jeans, and some shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a towel thrown over his shoulder but for this particular occasion, he was wearing dark blue long jogging bottoms and a white t-shirt and feeling out of place because of those. There was a hesitant step in his walk as he strolled out of the turbolift towards holodeck eight. The last time he had visited that particular holodeck it had been pure chaos. Where he had to run for his life together with the other people joining a particular program. Little did they know that someone was running a diagnoses on that particular holodeck, and it had compromised not only the program but also the safeties.
He stepped closer to the entrance doors and they opened. Glancing inside he saw nothing but the black, gridded walls, with a Vulcan and a Bolian standing in the middle of the holodeck. Lachlan took one step closer inside and examend all the walls making sure nothing abnormal stood out, otherwise he’d leave immediately.
Still, somewhat hesitantly, he stepped further inside, hearing the doors closing behind him. The female Bolian wore gym clothes while the Vulcan wore more traditional garbs.
Spelvan: Welcome. Today I am going to demonstrate some techniques of suus mahna.
Fenn: Hello! I don’t believe we have met. I’m the new Science Officer, Ensign Maezel Fenn. I heard you were going to demonstrate some Vulcan martial arts.
Crauw: I hope you don’t mind me joining.
Anyone: Response
Spelvan: Does anyone here have any experience with any other martial arts?
Fenn: None beyond what the Academy taught. This is new to me but I am interested to see what it’s like.
Crauw: That puts me in a disadvantage already. I never had any martial arts lessons.
He was more the passive type, preferring words over fighting. But as a civilian on the ship, he had learned that there weren’t always security officers around and that words would not always help him. Something he had learned only a while back when they were stranded in the Borg universe. Borg only seemed to pronounce three words: Resistance is futile.
Anyone / Spelvan: Response
Fenn: Sorry what were your names again?
Crauw: Lachlan Crauw here, your friendly bartender, either in Songbird and occasionally in Sto’vo’kor when Mek needs a break.
Anyone / Spelvan: Response
Fenn: ::smiling:: You can all call me Maezel. Ensign Spelvan, how long have you been practicing the martial art?
Anyone / Spelvan: Response
Fenn: I’ve heard of the Vulcan nerve pinch, are you able to do that?
Now that was an interesting question and he even had another question to follow-up on that.
Crauw: More importantly, can a non-Vulcan perform the nerve pinch?
Anyone / Spelvan: Response
Crauw: I mean, isn’t it the fastest way to disable a person with not using any weapons?
Spelvan / Fenn / Anyone: Response
He didn’t mind to volunteer for Spelvan to try the nerve pinch on him but how long would he be out? It would be difficult to follow the rest of the course with his eyes closed.
Crauw: Does suus mahna differ much from other martial arts? I suspect it is less violent than for instance Klingon martial arts?
He figured it would suit him more than learning mok’bara. Lachlan had never shown much interest in the lessons Toran Sevo gave in the Klingon martial arts. He wasn’t as muscled as Toran or Makkor for that matter.
