Ensign Spelvan - Logical Limits

(( USS Gorkon, Deck 4, Holodeck 6 - “Tiffany’s Diner” ))

Spelvan, Vesela, and Quinn were experimenting with ancient Earth vehicles in the holodeck. The Vulcan, unfamiliar with operating it, had been a bit overzealous with the acceraltor and had rocketed away, returning to his companions at a slower speed.

Spelvan: I recommend using the accelerator lightly. 

Reynolds: Funnily enough, that's what my husband keeps saying to me.

Pace: Oh Deities, what have I gotten myself into?

The admiral's admission for her admiration of speed did not surprise Spelvan. She probably knew far more about how engines worked than the Vulcan did, which was (admittedly) not very much to begin with. He raised an eyebrow at the Elaysian's exasperation. 

Spelvan: You are not required to match my speed in your own vehicle, Ensign Pace.

Reynolds: Well, then. Our first important decision is: left or right at the exit? Which way would you like to explore?

The group peered out onto the vast expanse of the seemingly unending desert.

Pace: Hmmm, both ways look pretty similar…

Spelvan: I agree.

Pace: I believe that a right hand turn would be easier, but a left hand turn would present… a fun challenge?

She seemed hesitant but determined. Vesela was in her car now, ready to begin driving.

Reynolds: Response

Spelvan: I am willing to defer to anyone else's suggestion on direction.

Pace: Okay, here we go!

The science officer cautiously put her foot on the accelerator. Spelvan matched her speed, but she was going very, very slow. Her nerves were, it seemed, "winning."

The Vulcan put his foot on the brake and stopped his vehicle.

Reynolds: Response

Spelvan: Are you alright?

He hesitated to offer medical assistance. Starfleet officers, he was beginning to learn, were quite stubborn and often pushed forward despite injury or distress far past logical limits.

Spelvan: We do not have to continue if you wish. 

Reynolds/Pace: Response

Spelvan: I would be happy to ride with you if that would be helpful. I'm sure the Admiral would be glad to assist as well.

Reynolds/Pace: Response
