As the three officers stood outside the dark server room, the humanoid hadn't moved much at all. Just slow breathing. All of them were very cautious, as the last few encounters had been extremely dangerous. They held off entering the room.

Reynolds: I don't think this slime mold wants us going in there. Or it wants us to think it doesn't want us going in there.

Spelvan: I do not like it.

Valek: I concur. The behavior suggests a possible attempt to lure us. It may be adapting to our actions.

The way the spores, vines and mold reacted so far intrigued Valek. It certainly appears the flora is sentient in some sense, and possibly not several minds but a collective. This would be a serious issue, as a hive mind suggests it could communicate instantly and simultaneously to all parts of the compound. This could be an issue for all teams.

However, Valek also knew, if there was a hive mind collective, there was always a main entity or controller of the hive. Maybe that is what they needed to identify and subdue and or eliminate if needed.

Reynolds: Does anyone else feel like this is the same situation in different clothing? It feels like someone trying to iterate a more successful trap.

Spelvan: Agreed. I have determined that medically, the patient will survive without further evaluation. We should investigate the rest of this room in the meantime.

Valek: That would be a logical course of action.

Reynolds: Response

Staying clear of the dark room and the found humanoid, they moved around the room. Staying within close proximity, per the Admiral's orders. Valek learned a lesson today, the Admiral did not like gung ho Security officers, and Valek would adjust his normal tendencies to run into the fire. His over protective personality would have to be held in check so he would better serve his Captain and crew. He was still very green as a StarFleet officer and situations like this tended not be taught at the Academy directly. Adapting and adjusting his process would be required.

They searched the room further and Spelvan spotted another open doorway. The doorway had a clear window in the middle to allow them a view into the room. There were consoles and other computer equipment in the room in need rows. The equipment was more familiar to what Valek had experienced, somewhat different than the computer towers in this room, which seemed ancient by comparison. There was a female humanoid sitting at one of the consoles, quickly working her fingers across the console's command face. Valek noticed that the mold was gathering in a heap near the door and no further. Ensign Spelvan reached out a hand and it stopped, there was an energy shield of some kind, holding back the spores.

Spelvan: ::He cleared his throat,:: Greetings, I am Ensign Spelvan, and these are my colleagues Admiral Reynolds and Ensign Valek. We are Starfleet officers, here to assist.

Valek: I am Valek of Starfleet Security. You are advised that a complete power shutdown is imminent. This action will disrupt your systems and energy shield.

Reynolds:

Unknown Figure: ::the woman continued to type frantically and muttering to herself:: Almost there, almost....just need to get this....ugh...come on!

Obviously the woman was too focused on whatever she was doing and seemed to ignore them. Spelvan kept looking through the window studying her, finally the woman stopped typing and turned toward the trio. Her facial markings identified her as another Kobliad, and from her badge they could clearly read her name as Dr. Var Gamoya. Valek was intrigued by the situation. She was obviously protecting herself from the interdimensional flora with her energy shield, and there was another humanoid in the other computer room. Valek was starting to get more questions than answers in his thoughts.

Spelvan: We have much to discuss, but first we must inform you that some of our associates are attempting to restart the power source for the facility. You should cease using the console immediately.

Valek: The Ensign is correct. As previously indicated, an imminent shutdown will result in the loss of all power and energy shielding. Shutdown of your systems is recommended to mitigate potential hazards.

Gamoya: ::her face showed frustration:: I am almost done, how much time do I have? The flora vegetation, or as we call it, 'Flora Vermilionis' is increasing its presence, and preparing for something. I am trying to isolate as much data as possible.

Reynolds/Spelvan: Response

Valek: Doctor, time constraints do not permit delay. The system should be operational again shortly.

Gamoya's response was both surprising and not unexpected. The name of the flora was intriguing but logical. However, the immediate danger was they did not want the Doctor injured with any electrical or energy feedback that may occur during the restart. Valek also was not sure how the spores would react once her shielding was down.

Reynolds/Spelvan/Gamoya: Response

((OOC: Latin 'Flora Vermilionis' translates to English 'Vermilion Flora'))
