((Inside the Lift, QIn’HuD Mines, veHrom’nagh))

The team had left the rainy conditions of Upper vIq’mItlth City behind, and after securing transport had landed in the mining facility initially discovered in Gnaxac’s relay extrapolations. The lift itself was rather dismal, if she was being honest, lacking all of the warmth and grandiosity of the bathhouse tiles, and had been designed only for its purpose, to move people and equipment and everything else to and from the rather harrowing depths below.

Finch: Now we’ve been granted permission to explore every corner of the site, but we’re starting down here as this is where the coordinates from the chip roughly point to. ::She nodded as the lift shuddered and began moving.:: Lieutenant Pace, I reckon this is where we’ll need your scientist's touch.

She transferred data onto the other tricorders, indicating the sort of environment they were in, the health hazards, the equipment, the stable and potentially unstable areas, and the potential setbacks they could encounter with their scans.

Gnaxac: B-b-but with all these warnings, I recommend n-n-not touching anything.

Basso: Yes, sir.

Pace: Response

Down and down and down the lift went, until it reached its destination with a dull thump. One by one they spilled out, tricorders raised to the striking and immense sights around them. Various different tunnels, in all sorts of different sizes, branched off into a variety of directions. Basso had her map out, ploughing on despite her injuries.

Gnaxac: Why would they c-c-come here?

Basso: To hide where least expected?

Finch: Quite possibly! Though I wouldn’t choose this place myself.

Pace: Response

Gankech had said that the heirs were alive, and that transporting to the mines had been their plan. Understanding how he knew that, or what his knowledge of it meant, did tickle at the back of her mind like a single strand of hair. There was also the technological hiccup to consider, that one of them was injured—or both of them. Transporter accidents were generally rare, but good grief when they did happen…it wasn’t a pretty thing to think about.

Basso: We should remain within eye shot of each other. With the twist and turns here, it is easy to get separated. Especially if our comm badges were to be disrupted.

Finch: Agreed! We’ll stick together this time.

Pace / Gnaxac: Response

Beside her she noticed Basso setting up a trail to the lift, ensuring that the team could find their way back later on. She appreciated that, though it briefly had her wondering about whether or not the Bajoran was still in pain from her earlier fight. She’d have to tell Sami all about the girl's wondrous bravery and rapid tactical mind, when they were back on the Gorkon.

Basso: Where do we even start?

Finch: Well! We can either follow our instinct or see if there is any evidence of the heirs having been here. Any clues, any points of interest, perhaps a cavern or something like that.

Pace  / Gnaxac / Basso: Response

Smile finding its place on her face again, she nodded her head in the direction of a particularly wide and plain tunnel and started walking down it, her tricorder busy as always with a cacophony of sounds. Here and there she noticed discarded tools, no doubt abandoned for newer ones and fresher crystal jackpots elsewhere. If she had been down there alone, it would have been quite an eerie experience indeed.

Finch: Let’s start walking in this direction shall we? We can run scans along the way.

Pace  / Gnaxac / Basso: Response
