((Seaside Cove, Cochtois Lagoon, Deluvia IV))
Ruwon shrugged one shoulder and waved a hand towards the sea. Gnaxac’s eyes danced along the muscles of his shoulder as they flexed and contracted. Then he realised what he was doing, and glanced somewhere else.
Ruwon: The Vulcans don’t like that sort of thing, but others do. I try to provide what the patient needs - be that medications, simple counselling, casual conversation… ::He took another sip of his drink through the straw, catching it with his tongue.:: Or intimacy.
Gnaxac’s eyebrows raised with a faint sense of alarm.
Gnaxac: Int-t-t-timacy?
Ruwon’s smile twisted just a bit, but stayed sunny. Innocent.
Ruwon: I’m joking.
Gnaxac let out a sigh of relief, for that had been a little bit concerning, at least to his tiny Ferengi mind (housed in a large Ferengi skull).
Gnaxac: Oh, thank the Exch-ch-chequer for that. You d-d-delight in t-t-teasing, d-d-don’t you?
Ruwon looked momentarily offended, but Gnaxac might have been imagining it.
Ruwon: Ah, you’ve got me dead to rights. It’s one of the fun things about being Romulan, you know. Drives the Vulcans crazy.
Gnaxac: ::chortling:: I b-b-bet that’s a lot of fun.
Ruwon reached over and patted Gnaxac’s shoulder reassuringly, and the Ferengi started to relax. The conversation was seemingly moving away from the distressingly sexual.
Ruwon: And just what finds you here, in Starfleet? Forgive the presumption, but you’re about as rare to Starfleet as I am.
Gnaxac nodded at that; the Romulan wasn’t wrong - as far as he could remember, he’d never served with another Ferengi. He’d heard rumours that there had been a female Ferengi on the Gorkon, but he was pretty sure their paths had never met.
Gnaxac: Ah, yes, we’re not v-v-very common. Not a lot of “profit” in it.
He did the air quotes with his fingers, rolling his eyes as he did so.
Ruwon: I admit I’m not very familiar with Ferengi. I hope we’ll both see more of our own in the ranks soon, though.
Gnaxac’s nod was now really quite enthusiastic, and he grinned. He was thrilled by the prospect - he would love more Ferengi in the ‘fleet - it would indicate to his remaining relatives that he wasn’t the only failure (except, you know, the Grand Nagus’ SON!), and it would be nice to have more fellow Ferengi that had more in common with him.
Gnaxac: I agree - my species c-c-can be quite isolationist in our way, even if we are a p-p-part of the Federation.
Ruwon: Response
Gnaxac: I g-g-guess in that respect, our species are quite f-f-familiar.
Ruwon: Response
