::Having dispatched their nosy receptionist with the deception of slumber, Genkos turned back to the darkened room. Kyrrha was lying in one of the beds, giving credence to the deception.::

Adea: Right, now what?

::Kyrrha threw the blankets back and nimbly jumped from the bed, darting over to the table. She grabbed a small flashlight. There was silence where there were once blinking lights and the slight whir of technology. She flipped switches on the power pack, rerouted wires from the tricorder casing, and adjusted the power output. Genkos watched her with interest - there was nothing to be said until she had seen how damaged the unit was. He looked at her, very much aware of the sound of his own heart pounding. Clearly the adrenaline had yet to wear off.::

Tereen: The relay is intact and can still be used. ::She cocked her head, slightly.:: I cannot explain why the device released that wave earlier, nor can I pinpoint—at this moment—what its effects are.::

Adea: Fantastic? Is it stable?

::He was concerned that it might release another wave of the gods-only-know-what.::

Tereen: I have to keep the device powered up. As we are changing its intended purpose without all the necessary items, another spike or loss in power may cause another electromagnetic wave. ::She began gathering the outlying supplies, fitting them inside of her bag. Genkos picked up his own effects; namely his medical supply kit.::

Adea: Right. And then people might come and investigate the strange wave phenomenon. These pirates might not be Starfleet levels of curious, but I'm sure even they would at least come and have a look.

Tereen: Whatever we do, Doctor, we cannot stay here. I have the distinct feeling that our position has been compromised and am convinced that we will be visited again—this time with greater fervour.

Adea: Agree. I'll contact the others.

Tereen: Dante and Newt have been out there for a while. They must have found most—if not all—of the items. It would be prudent to regroup.

::Genkos frowned slightly - who was in charge here again? He chalked it up to a blend of Klingon belligerence and Vulcan logic, and brought out the old-style communicator from his bag. Flipping it open, he spoke into the receiver::

Adea: =/\= Doc to Newt or Dante, come in please =/\=

Stoyer/Neathler: Response

Adea: =/\= We're getting bored here, it's too hot in the room. Fancy a drink? =/\=

::Genkos hoped they'd recognise his attempts to utilise code - he didn't want to speak too openly::

Stoyer/Neathler: Response

Adea: =/\= Wonderful. ::casting his eyes out the window:: Shall we say the Copper? Half an hour. Over and out =/\=

::He flipped the receiver shut. The Copper was a dingy looking bar, a few doors down from the Vortex, but it looked as good a place as any to regroup. Genkos nodded at Kyrrha::

Adea; Give me a hand here.

::Together the rolled the Gorn in front of the door, then bound his hands with medical tape. It wouldn't hold him for long, but it would provide a lovely door stop for anyone trying to get in.::

Tereen: Response?

Adea: This way, nobody can get in.

Tereen: Response?

Adea: We're not going out that way. ::he nodded towards the window:: I'm guessing that although these pirates might be lax on fire regulations, they will have a fire escape. We'll go down that way.

::Genkos opened the window and craned his head out. The fire escape went from the next room, but there was a ledge that looked wide enough to shimmy along until they got there. A sudden rush of footsteps up the stairs (perhaps they'd heard them moving the Gorn about?) gave them a sense of urgency. Flinging the window open as wide as it would go, he looked at Kyrrha::

Adea: Do you want to go first, or shall I?
