(( Stellar Cartography - USS Gorkon ))
Samira wanted to get to know a few new members of her department. And she had had the marvelous idea to take them down to the planet Adamas, even though she was clueless on where to take them. She longed for some normal green and flora, a non-threatening forest with only a limiited number of tangle woods, and which certainly did not have the intention to strangle them to death or to use their own body parts to form monstrosities.
Neathler: Have either of you ever been to a similar planet?
Valek: Unfortunately Commander, this is the first Ecumenopolis planet I have visited.
Doran: This is my first time too. I have literally only been to other countries on Earth.
She raised an eyebrow on the comment, while Valek looked at both her and Andrew. She couldn’t say the same. Next to a couple of shore leaves and her years at Starfleet Academy, Samira had barely visited Earth. The only place she called home was the starship she was currently serving on.
Valek: If nothing suitable is available in the high-rise structures, perhaps a walk through the city would be acceptable. It would provide an opportunity to survey the area and identify any potential concerns.
They could survey the area but any potential concern was a matter for Adamas’ police or security force. It was very unlikely Adamas would accept any changes or proposals from any Starfleet officer who visited the planet. Same as she would be reluctant to accept any changes a visitor on the ship would demand from her.
Doran: They do have at least one tour available that I know of.
Neathler: So tea or a tour. That’s more than when I started my search.
Valek: I have no strong preference. I am receptive to whatever suggestions you may have.
Doran: If I may…if we can’t find anything suitable then we could always use the holodeck to create an environment. Maybe some places will deliver food.
Andrew crossed his arms and grew thoughtful.
Doran: Then again, if you really wanted a break from the ship then maybe the tea house is the best option.
Valek: Intriguing idea Ensign.
Samira nodded. Her plan had worked, from having no ideas at all, they already had three now.
Andrew looked over the green buildings and sighed lightly.
Doran: I really wish there were more options with some greenery. It’s almost like the people of the planet are allergic to plants. Or like the city outgrew the need for nature.
Samira looked sideways towards the Human. He was actually expressing the same thing she was thinking. In a way she understood the planet. Her own need for trees, plants and nature had been zero while growing up from one starship to another. But all that had changed since she joined the Gorkon and visited the planets the ship orbited between missions.
Valek: I cannot speak for the Commander, but vegetation would not be my preferred choice at this time.
Neathler: Maybe that’s why the Admiral opted for Adamas in the first place.
Doran: That being said, I truly don’t have a preference for where we go.
Samira nodded, thankful for the input of both ensigns.
Valek: There is an alternative. I have a bottle of Vek'talan Reserve Port from my family's estate in my quarters. Perhaps we could find a location with a view of the city, share a glass, and converse.
Now that was the idea she had been waiting for. A good glass to swallow away all what had happened on Gibaria and the other dimension. But she had a bit of a reputation to uphold and well…
Neathler: It sounds more like you saved that bottle of port for a special occasion, Ensign Valek. Why don’t you hold on to it a bit longer.
Doran: Response
Valek: However, a modest quantity of Vulcan port may enhance a social occasion. Excessive consumption would be illogical, as it impairs one's ability to reason effectively.
Neathler: Exactly, I want to get to know you two better, not forget everything I’ve heard after consuming a bottle of excellent port. ::She raised an eyebrow towards the Vulcan.:: Unless that is your intent?
Doran: Response
There was a twinkle in her eyes as she looked at both men, next the surrounding buildings had her attention. Surely, one of the green areas held what she was looking for? The scenery changed and she zoomed in on one of the buildings. It wasn’t the tallest buildings of that area, but if they ignored one side, they’d have a good view of the rest.
Neathler: A nice cup of tea will do, and if time permits, we can still go for that tour afterwards. ::She nodded towards the chosen building.:: And that seems like the perfect location. A tea-house surrounded by a bit of ::She paused.:: harmless looking green, and with a view.. How does that sound?
Valek / Doran: Response
Neathler: Splendid, I’ll meet you both in the transporter room in half an hour? That’ll give you some time to change into something more comfortable.
Valek / Doran: Response
(( Tanomi’s Tea house - Adamas ))
Samira looked in awe around her. The threesome stood at the roof of a tall building and she was looking at a wooden building in the distance, with open windows. The wood was painted in a joyful green and so was the open terras in front of the building. The doors stood wide open, inviting them to enter. Spread on the terras were a few tables, surrounded by comfortable looking rattan seats, only two tables were occupied by other people. Blue lantern lamps hung at intervals from the terras beams. Smaller trees planted in big clay pots stood at strategic places on the grassy underfooting. Smaller bushes showed them colourful flowers. A small wooden bridge lay over a pond leading them to the terras but what amazed Samira the most was the view. A layer of fluffy, white clouds blocked the view on whatever was happening below them.
Neathler: I don’t know about you but I wasn’t expecting this.
Valek / Doran: Response
