(( Coralis Beach, Deluvia IV ))
Vesela hadn’t meant to take the conversation on such a detour. They were on a beautiful beach for the Deities’ sakes! They should be relaxing and laughing, not thinking of the Borg!
Pace: I’m so sorry, sir. You were kind enough to bring me to this beach and all I can do is bring the mood down! ::She tried to chuckle and think of a new subject.:: I wonder if this bar’s got any specialty Tidesong drinks?
Tahna: I’m sure they do. Let’s see…
Vesela chewed at her bottom lip as the holographic menu appeared on the table between them, boasting a very large and quite inclusive drink selection.
Pace: Oh wow, they’ve got tons of options.
Tahna: Well, this one’s glowing, like the plankton I suppose. And this one, the Jewel of the Sea, is based on a traditional Selkie drink…. I think I’ll try the Selkie one. You?
Vesela’s brow furrowed as she thought for a moment.
Pace: Me too, Commander, this is their festival after all!
The Commander put her order in and Vesela did the same, choosing the non-alcoholic option. She looked at the sky once more and closed her eyes for a minute, trying to soak it all in. It was a little less effective than she would have liked, but all in all probably better for her than hours in the library.
Tahna: You know, I almost left the Fleet as an ensign, after a couple bad experiences in a row. Sami is a lot of the reason why I stuck it out. ::She paused, a slight frown creasing her features.:: It’s easy to get stuck in your own head after something like the Borg, but community is often the antidote. We have literally all been there.
That shook Vesela a bit. She had been isolating herself, hadn’t she? The Commander was right of course, but how could she begin to process the Borg mission with others? She’d done her best to think as little as possible about the time they had in that universe after weaving the tapestry that was now hanging in her quarters. But clearly that wasn’t working anymore.
Pace: Really, sir? ::She paused.:: Well I am very glad you stayed in the Fleet, and I bet a lot of our crewmates are too.
Tahna: Response
Pace: I suppose I have been hiding a bit this shore leave… but I’m glad that’s done for now. I don’t think I could comprehend another scientific article for a few days at least! ::She chuckled.::
Tahna: Response
A server brought the two drinks to their chairs and Vesela gave a tiny head nod of thanks.
Pace: Oh these look absolutely lovely! ::She grinned and held her glass towards the Commander.:: Cheers! To community?
Tahna: Response
