((QIn’HuD Mines, veHrom’nagh))

And so the team had gone down into the depths of the Qln’HuD Mines in search of Ruktah and J’nara. A series of events, evidence and vague information provided by Gankech had led them there. Now they were surrounded by a series of carved tunnels and mining equipment, and had to decide what direction to head in—they had somewhat of a map, but with the ever-changing structure of a mining colony, she wasn’t sure how reliable it was going to be.

Finch: Let’s start walking in this direction shall we? We can run scans along the way.

Gnaxac: Sure thing!

Basso: Understood.

Pace: Response

As they walked through the rather plain tunnel, her brown eyes spotted all sorts of different tools used for mining. Some were rather old fashioned like pickaxes, shovels and hammers, others a bit handier like specialised Klingon pneumatic and hydraulic drills and breakers. The latter was impressively designed, and she had half a mind to stop and inspect it if time wasn't ticking away.

She turned to her fellow engineer with a grin.

Finch: What do you think about all this?

Gnaxac: This mining t-t-tech is impressive.

Basso: They spared no expense. I don’t know what they are mining for, but to operate one at this scale must be valuable.

Pace: Response

Benamite, and then some. The mission brief had talked of the two major houses tensing up over it, tightening their grip on the planet's mining operations. She could imagine other houses from across the Empire, lurking in the shadows, vying for a bit of that crystalline power too. For a brief moment, the older woman thought about Faruch, wondering if he was pottering around the Empire somewhere and knew anything about it.

Finch: What can we determine about this infrastructure here?

Basso:  Most of these caves are naturally forming, though they did create artificial tunnels throughout this complex. See on the map, they listed core samples taken and at which depth. The artificial tunnels must have been created to reach deposits faster.

Finch: Very interesting. Are we near to any newer deposits?

Gnaxac / Pace: Response

Soon, a positively rancid smell found its way into her nostrils, causing the hairs within them to bend in protest. Her bushy brows pressed together as she wafted the smell away as best as she could—a bit of a strained chuckle falling out of her gob in the process.

Basso: Agh, what is that smell?

Finch: No doubt a fresh excavation up ahead. ::She huffed.:: I’m sure it’s not exactly what you want to hear, but let’s go there shall we and take a look.

Gnaxac / Pace: Response

After nodding, she moved with the team towards the end of the tunnel, until they reached a balcony overlooking a cavernous pit. In there was something of an orchestra; drilling, banging, rocks falling, other machinery and an occasional high-pitched ringing. Her squinting eyes spotted Klingons donned in protective apparel operating a myriad of different contraptions, looking terribly busy, and even more so focused.

Finch: The smell could be from sulfur compounds, or some other element we’re yet to be aware of.

Pace / Gnaxac / Basso: Response

Doz turned around and spotted a pile of masks nearby and walked over to quickly collect them.

Finch: I suggest we throw these on, just whilst we’re in here.

Pace / Gnaxac / Basso: Response
