((Runabout, Gateside Dimension))

They had somehow, against all measurable odds, made it to the shuttle. The only question now was whether it was capable of getting them home. The Vulcan had no data to suggest otherwise, but he was still unfamiliar with the level of modification that had been done to the craft. Still, staying here was neither an option, nor desired.

Marshall: Fenn, get me eyes on that gate the moment it's in range. Gorkon's going to be happy we're bringing the entire dimension's worth of paperwork with us.

Fenn: Aye, Commander.

Marshall: How are we doing? Anything coming up on sensors?

Fenn: Sensors have confirmed the location of the gate. Hold this course, Commander.

They were rapidly approaching the gate. Kovar checked sensors and…nothing. Given all that they had experienced on this side of the gate, it was hard to believe that leaving would be so simple. It would be preferable to believe that the worst was behind them, but whenever he caught Fenn in his peripheral vision, he knew that it was not that simple. Nothing ever was.

Marshall: Now they break out paradise, when we're leaving. That's extra dimensional hospitality for you.

oO Ah yes, another joke. The commander does indeed enjoy these. I should reciprocate. Oo

Kovar: A hospitality that I have no wish to enjoy ever again.

Marshall: Closing in on the gate. ::She checked the reading again, then hooked an eyebrow up as she looked at her companions.:: Last chance if anyone wants to stay for the rest of time.

Kovar: I find the Gorkon to be more than adequate for my needs, Commander. However, the offer is appreciated.

Fenn: Commander, I'm sending you the navigational information for the journey back. Plug it straight into the autopilot, you’ll need the computer to make the micro course corrections. Kovar, we’ll need every scrap of power you can give the shields and the deflector system please.

Marshall: Good thinking, Fenn. Autopilot coming online as we speak. Kovar, kick the life support shut if you have to. We're in EVA, it shouldn't matter that much if we need the extra boost. We can shiver for a short while.

Kovar: Copy.

His fingers deftly flew across the controls, modifying or shutting down all systems deemed non-essential for the express purpose of getting them home, at least with this specific set of variables such of EVA suits and the like.

Fenn: Shuttle ready for transit on your order Commander.

Marshall: Sure looks like a good day to be going home, doesn't it? ::Her stomach twisted but she found a smile from somewhere.:: For what it's worth, if this doesn't work, it's been a pleasure serving with you both. You've done Starfleet and your families proud. And hell, if this works, drinks are on me.

The Vulcan had never been a drinker. In fact, he had never really seen the point. Other than ethanol serving the ritual life of many cultures, it seemed to also impair judgment, motor function, and emotional regulation. For those reasons he never saw justification in participating. However, if he were to continue building the interpersonal bonds conducive to productive work upon the Gorkon, it would at times be necessary to participate in these sorts of social engagements.

He paused. Yes. One drink, purely for observational purposes, was not equivalent to recreational purposes. Kovar looked up from his screen.

Kovar: Commander, I think I might take you up on that.

Marshall: For whatever comes. Eyes forward. Mister Fenn, take us in.
