(( Lobby of the Emerald Reef Hotel, Deluvia IV ))
Once everyone in Sickbay had been patched up and the Gorkon had made its way to Deluvia IV, Dr. Spelvan found himself hoping to use his shore-leave time to, among other things, meet some of the rest of the crew. As a doctor on the ship, he believed that the most logical way to perform his duties best would be to get to know his crewmates. Or be introduced to them at the very least.
So when one of the officers announced on the message boards that they would be meeting at the Emerald Reef Hotel to tour the capital city, he was eager to accompany them. He wore his standard Starfleet uniform, so that the other officers would be able to identify him.
He stopped short, however, when he saw two female officers - a Trill and an Andorian.
And they were both very, very tall.
Spelvan had, unfortunately, been bullied by a group of Andorians at the Academy who found him an easy target for pranks and harassment. And despite it being illogical, he had felt edgy around Andorians ever since. Thankfully, he had not had any negative interactions with Trill thus far.
He listened to the two officers discuss their plans.
Sevo: I’m heading to Iyira. Going to check the sights and shop the markets. You interested in joining?
zh’Tisav: That’s the underwater city, right?
Sevo: Yea. It’s got some sights, I hear.
After standing too far away for them to notice him, Spelvan mustered the courage to approach.
Spelvan: ::He uneasily spread his hand in the Vulcan salute:: Greetings, I am Dr. Spelvan. I am new to the Gorkon and if it is amenable, I would like to accompany you.
The Andorian seemed distressed about her surroundings. Despite Spelvan's earlier apprehension about the underwater environment, he did not find it to be as oppressive as he feared.
zh’Tisav: What the hell, I’ll tag along for now. Thyl asked for a souvenir anyway and that’s probably the best place to find one…
Sevo: I don’t mean to pry, but, are you alright? You look terrified.
zh’Tisav: Response
Spelvan considered offering a sedative, but thought better of it. In his experience, most individuals did not respond well to offers of medication in times of stress.
Sevo: Oh, well, I’m sorry. If you don’t feel comfortable coming…
zh’Tisav: Response
Spelvan: If it helps, this is not a natural environment for me, either. I much prefer dry land.
Sevo: Good! I hope others join us. I put a call out on the ship’s message boards; we’ll see. One place I want to see is their aquatic science center. It’s like a museum, but in reverse. Terrestrial guests walk through clear corridors and pressurized enclosures while the sea life roams free around them. It sounds fascinating!
zh’Tisav: Response
Spelvan: Do you have an interest in wildlife - ::He paused.:: Excuse me, it appears I do not know your names.
zh'Tisav/Sevo/Anyone: Response
Spelvan: I, too, am interested in the aquatic science center. It is compelling to see animals in their natural ecosystems.
zh'Tisav/Sevo/Anyone: Response
The Andorian appeared to still be uneasy, so the Vulcan thought it would be best if they left the hotel for the time being.
Spelvan: Perhaps we should go to a cafe to eat or drink first. I have not yet eaten.
zh'Tisav/Sevo/Anyone: Response
