((USS Gorkon, Deck 4, Holodeck 6 - Program: Tiffany's Diner))

The Admiral, the doctor, and science officer had been discussing the future. Spelvan and Vesela, being fairly new to the fleet, did not have very concrete career plans as of yet.

Spelvan: On an unrelated note, there is an "outdoor" area in this simulation as well, through those doors. ::He pointed to a set of double-doors near the jukebox.:: I explored it briefly before the two of you arrived, if you would like a change in scenery.

Pace: Ooh, I’d love to take a gander!

Reynolds: I'm definitely curious. I didn't realise they'd put in more than just the diner.

Admittedly, there wasn't that much outside the diner, but Spelvan was curious to see what his companions thought of the area.

Pace: I wonder how different old Earth is from the one we know?

Reynolds: Quite a bit, I imagine. This restaurant is from three hundred and fifty years ago.

Spelvan nodded. Earth, he understood, had had a tumultuous global history in that period.

Pace: ::She nodded and chuckled.:: It’s a good thing all our worlds have come a long way, I couldn’t imagine a life without space travel!

Reynolds: Makes you wonder who we would have been back then. I probably would have spent my life in a lab. ::She paused, and found a crooked smile.:: Maybe I would have worked for NASA. Or built one of those early space telescopes.

Spelvan had a very faint recollection of what NASA was from his Academy days - it had something to do with early Earth space exploration, he thought.

He resisted the urge to frown, thinking briefly what it would be like if he had lived a few centuries ago. No Starfleet meant he would likely still be trapped on Vulcan, feeling unfulfilled. And who knew about his brother, who by all accounts might be exiled on planet instead of thriving on Ferenginar.

These were bleak thoughts, so he pushed them away as they prepared to go outside.

Spelvan: I am simply glad to be living in the present.

Pace: Response

Reynolds: Well then. Shall we have an explore outside?

Spelvan nodded silently and stood as he and his companions walked out the front doors of the diner.

Pace: Response

A cool, almost-evening breeze met them as they stepped outside. It was close to sunset now, and a street lamp nearby was already on. There were several vehicles parked in a small lot - some with four wheels and a couple with two. A two-lane road led out to what eventually seemed to be a larger road.

Spelvan: Intriguing. I wonder how similar they are to modern land vehicles.

Pace/Reynolds: Response

Not very, Spelvan knew - but he did his best to avoid riding in any sort of land transportation vehicle due to safety reasons. He'd seen a hover-vehicle crash once in San Francisco during his time at the Academy; it was a crystal-clear lesson of what happened when an unstoppable force hit an immovable object.

The cars were, however subjectively, crafted into pleasing shapes and colors. The Vulcan wondered what they were made of.

Spelvan: ::He placed a hand on a bright red sports car:: They are certainly aesthetically pleasing.

Pace/Reynolds: Response
