The blonde Betazoid Miaxdiso Avoi had gathered as much information as she could about the Borg and their “society”. She had visited Nassau, meeting with some of its most important bigwigs, to strengthen relations between the Starfleet crew and theirs. She had also steamed, reorganised and colour coordinated her wardrobe ten times over. Everything on her long and embellished list had been conquered. So when the call to join one of the teams responsible for the receival and processing of severed drones from the Collective came, she was almost ecstatic—almost, because it was as frightening as it was fantastic.

She had intended to discuss rehabilitation measures and approaches with counsellor Ruwon, when the conversation sheered to the scrumptious topic of Romulan Capitol parties instead, with the Betazoid revealing that it was a language she could speak.

Avoi: I know just enough to get by, and what I do know rolls off the tongue ever so wonderfully. ::She smiled gleefully.:: Although I must admit that it’s a bit of a xenolinguistic hurdle at first due to its three dialects and similarity to the Vulcan language.

Ruwon leaned in, mouth pulled gently into a half-smile.

Ruwon: I’d be happy to help you practice, if you’d like. It can be a complex language indeed.

Avoi: ::She tittered.:: Perhaps you can begin with that lovely phrase.

Ruwon: Ah, it’s a quote, from ‘Ehdhihss T'liss Aellei Ehdhihss’ - I believe the common title is ‘The Eagle and the Rhea’. Wonderful music; the story is a bit melodramatic, as opera tends to be.

Miaxdiso’s face was a transmogrification of expression, one of joy, surprise and enchantment hearing the man make mention of the music known as Eagle and the Rhea. Her grandmother and family Matriarch, Kiadoxa, was also a singer and relished any opportunity to belt her resplendent voice across the City of Idridi; such was one of the many staples of her famous parties, the opening of every grand window in her home so that those on the outside could also listen in to her wondrous melodies. Oh how desperately she missed her!

Avoi: There is nothing quite like the thrill of an emotional performance!

Ruwon: Unlike our logical cousins, we Romulans love to indulge in emotion. Love is one of the greatest - and the most tragic, when it turns to hate. The Capitol loves its melodramas, especially if the theme is doomed love.

Avoi: My govanna¹, Kiadoxa, often sings about love. ::She sighed sweetly.:: Her melodies are quite renowned. Though usually she keeps the more sombre songs for the end of the evening, when all of the wine and spritz is finished and everyone is sprawled out on the chaise lounges scattered in the lounge.

She drifted in thought momentarily, eyelashes flapping away as though preparing for flight. Her grandmother's fame was only part of the entire operation that made up her fabulously flamboyant gatherings. Her mother, Meivredi, also played a crucial role in the organisation of everything, whilst her father Astrim networked and mingled with total ease. She idolised all of them for such different reasons.

Ruwon: Response

The blonde Betazoid shook the stars out of her head and handed the man her biggest Cheshire cat grin, oily black eyes lingering then to the biobed beside them.

Avoi: Although we adore our fashion in Idridi, tradition still plays a very important role in the way we view love and romance. Like our weddings, for example. Custom dictates that all people present are to appear without clothing.

Ruwon: Response

Avoi: With that in mind, I do have to wonder, Counsellor, what considerations we should make for our incoming guests. ::Her eyes bulged worriedly.:: If we can identify something about who they were before all of the…all of the Borgification…that might help us to forge a connection or…put them at ease!

Ruwon: Response
