(( Cochtois Lagoon, Deluvia IV ))

:: Ayiana had slowly learned of what transpired on the Njörðr during their trip to Deluvia on the Yarahla after their rescue. While she was still recovering from her relatively minor injuries, Ayiana passed the time chatting with people and reading up on everyone else’s adventures on the ship. She was still having trouble believing the reports of the so-called “crab creatures” many people encountered. Her, Quinn and Cory never saw such things during their sojourn through the debilitated ship; but the myriad different accounts were too similar to ignore. She was quietly anticipating the incoming science reports that were no doubt already underway. In this instance, however, science could wait. ::

:: Deluvia IV lived up to the hype; it certainly was a tropical paradise, at least along the equator. The climate reminded her of Risa and, more importantly, her home city of Najana on Trill. The Cochtois Lagoon was very similar to the many beaches Ayiana frequented during her childhood; right down to the favorable temperature and hot sand between her toes. ::

:: What Trill did not have many of, however, were elaborate underwater hotels; but that made sense since, unlike the Selkies that inhabited Deluvia, Trill were not aquatic. The Selkies started life as amphibious, eventually developing into purely aquatic organisms later in life. This meant that they lived underwater in the planet’s sprawling oceans, and had developed complex technology to thrive there. Realizing that many land-based beings enjoyed tropical climates and sojourns to the (to them) alien world beneath the waves, the Selkies quickly developed a thriving tourism industry on many of their planets; Deluvia being no exception. ::

:: The Emerald Reef Hotel was a marvel of aquatic engineering. Most of it existed far beneath the waves, near a magnificent coral reef. This was a prime location for witnessing a variety of marine life that existed in the reef. Much to Ayiana’s surprise and concern, most of the hotel rooms lacked windows and instead held back the tons of water with powerful forcefields; it gave a whole new meaning to being “one with the fishes.” At first, Ayiana was uneasy with the notion until she read up on the safety systems built into the hotel. Each “window” was triple-layered with forcefields, each on independent, triply-redundant power and generator systems. Emergency transporters would act in a fraction of a second at the slightest detection of a breach. At the very least, it seemed safer than their last celebration on the hull of the Gorkon, with a thin forcefield bubble between them and the cold vacuum of space. Here, at least she could swim. ::

:: With her mind much more at ease, Ayiana was finally able to begin her much-anticipated vacation. She still intended to visit the New Horizons conference, but most of the science panels were not for several days, and exhibits would be showcased throughout the conference’s time. Besides, they were all being holofilmed and would be available for download to all attendees, so she wouldn’t miss any of the presentations.::

:: For now, she wanted to wash off the hell that had been the Njörðr, both literally and figuratively. The Yarahla had sonic showers set up for the refugees, but it wasn’t the same as an honest-to-goodness hydroshower, which Ayiana’s hotel room splendidly provided. She was adamant, however, that the dirt and grime of the Njörðr could only be fully washed away with a warm bath under Deluvia’s sun. ::

:: Thus, Ayiana found herself on the Cochtois Lagoon Beach, heading towards a bank of beach chairs set up near the beachside bar, run by a handsome young Selkie male. She was wearing a red bikini and sunglasses, the hot sand feeling divine between her bare toes. Her hair swayed back-and-forth lazily behind her, cascading down her back like a fiery waterfall, occasionally being disturbed by a gentle gust of wind. She had a fantastic Selkie cocktail in one hand, and a book tucked under her other arm. Approaching the chairs, Ayiana almost didn’t recognize the resident counselor without her famous wigs. Her blonde hair was pinned up in a simple ‘do, and she was wearing a black and pink bikini and outrageously-large sunglasses.  She seemed to be in her own little world, tapping away with one foot, listening to some imaginary music. ::

Sevo: Hello, Ensign.

Fortune: Response

Sevo: Sorry to disturb you, but there aren’t many chairs left. You look like you need the company anyway.

Fortune: Response

:: Ayiana quickly settled herself down in the chair, letting her large ponytail blow freely in the mild wind. She placed her cocktail in the drink holder on one of the armrests. ::

Sevo: Oh, I needed this.

Fortune: Response
