((Research and Development Wing, Gibaria Outpost))
The three Starfleet officers had finally reached their destination - the security room. But what met them was a desolate scene of carnage.
Spelvan: ::Quietly,:: I wonder if Gamoya was here, or if it was someone else.
Reynolds: Can you tell from the blood? Even if we can narrow down species, it might give us an idea. It's not the most populous of outposts.
Valek: Ensign, can you ascertain whether this blood is consistent with the DNA profile of Var Gamoya?
Spelvan nodded as he examined the data on his tricorder. Unfortunately, Gamoya's DNA profile wasn't available - oddly, no medical data about her was available. All scrubbed, he suspected, when she withdrew from the scientific community.
However, he could confirm which species it came from and the typing, which did point to Kobliad. The doctor thought almost fondly of V'Lar for a moment, who would have efficiently calculated the likelihood of the blood belonging to the lead scientist down to the last decimal. Spelvan, alas, was not that kind of Vulcan.
Spelvan: My scans indicate that is Kobliad... however, many of the other scientists that arrived on the initial survey manifest were also of that species.
Reynolds: That much blood, and it's still relatively fresh. ::She frowned and shook her head, sweeping her gaze around the room.:: They can't have gone far. Unless they were carried.
Spelvan saw Valek's posture shift, a sign of stress that would have been unnoticeable to anyone but another Vulcan. The doctor followed him cautiously as he indicated an open doorway leading to a dark hallway. Blood smears featured prominently here as well.
Valek: Admiral, I have discovered an alternate exit. The blood trail strongly suggests that the injured party exited in this direction.
Spelvan: That hallway seems... foreboding.
Reynolds: Response
The security officer appeared to be positioning himself toward the front this time, which put Spelvan a bit more at ease.
Valek: Admiral, if you would like to proceed and follow the trail I will take lead at your order.
Reynolds: Response
Spelvan nodded, perusing his PADD that had the map of the facility displayed. His lips pursed as he realized something unnerving.
Spelvan: This corridor is not on our maps - though these maps were generated when the facility was first built. It may be that they are simply out of date.
Reynolds/Valek: Response
Something else was bothering the doctor. There was a blood trail going (or coming) from the corridor and also blood splatters outside the main security entrance.
He took out his medical tricorder and scanned a sample of the blood on the wall. It was as he suspected - it was of a different typing, meaning not one but two people were on the loose with possible severe injuries.
Spelvan: It appears we have two people involved. The blood here is also Kobliad but of a different type.
Reynolds/Valek: Response
Spelvan: Perhaps an injured individual entered the security room and then took the other person already present down the corridor.
Reynolds/Valek: Response
