(( Tanglewoods - Gateside Dimension ))
They set in motion as another humanoid cry sounded through the air. Samira turned towards the direction the sound came from but noticed nothing but red vines and moss and wood. Yet she saw something as she turned towards the others and she pointed over Doz’ shoulder.
Neathler: There’s something there, not totally covered in vines or moss.
Although when she gazed at it, the vines around the object crawled and moved as if they tried to strangle whatever it was.
Finch: Would have to happen while I’m in this position, wouldn’t it?
Espinoza: Response
Samira looked at Finch, who gestured at Espinoza to help her up. How the engineer had ended up in that position, Samira had no idea. It was already difficult enough to thread through the tanglewood without losing one’s balance.
Finch: I'm getting flashbacks to the outpost.
Neathler: At least our environment didn’t change around us in the outpost as it does here.
Espinoza: Response
But maybe it was a one of thing, and it wouldn’t happen again. Finch looked up at the mechanical suit walking next to them. Another sound cried through the otherwise rather silent area. Trees and branches moved and changed appearance, and it took a few seconds before everything settled.
Finch: They're gone. Or they've moved. ::She looked around.:: That's interesting.
Neathler: But making things difficult for us.
Espinoza: Response
She looked around, but what she had seen earlier had now disappeared. They no longer had a marker of which direction to go. It was only now Samira realized something.
Neathler: They? Did you see someone?
Finch / Espinoza: Response
They continued their way towards the west, or what they assumed was the west. Perhaps the changing of the woods and the vines was on purpose to set them on the wrong track.
Neathler: With our limited tricorder range, there’s no way to track where a vine starts or ends, is there?
Finch / Espinoza: Response
She stood still for a moment, contrary to what she believed earlier, it wasn’t silent around them. There was the moving and growing of the vines. Maybe that was it. The way forward.
Neathler: What if we focus on one vine, or one structure and follow it to the source? That would get us somewhere. Maybe mark it somehow, so when things changes again we can still spot which vine we’ve chosen?
Why was it that when you were planet side, that there was always something missing in your backpack? The list of things she had packed kept growing each adventure but something new popped up every single time. She shook her head, not having anything on her that could mark the vines without hurting or cutting into it. Glancing around she picked a vine and took a few steps forward, only to discover the ground beneath her boots suddenly gave way, and she felt herself slipping and falling downwards.
