((Emerald Reef Hotel Ballroom, Deluvia IV))
Tahna: The situation we encountered on veHrom’nagh was volatile. Two Klingon houses, both concerned for their futures, warred with each other, leaving their children caught in the middle. I’m pleased to award the Diplomacy Ribbon to Lieutenant Commander Doz Finch, Lieutenant Gnaxac, and Lieutenant JG Vesela Pace for retrieving the heirs and seeking a diplomatic solution for all parties.
This presentation led to a much more raucous round of applause as the three officers accepted their ribbons. Meru joined in with them, clapping and catching the eye of each team member with a smile, one returned in kind by Doz who accepted hers with a spring in her step, glad that with the ingenuity and clever cunning of her fantastic team, they had managed to find the doting heirs and steer them towards a more discerning course. Once the boxes were emptied and returned to their spots, it was Doz’s turn to stand at the podium.
Finch: Searching for the truth: it’s far more than just having a keen eye, or indeed a keener nose. It’s the art of knowing how to ask the right question, and an insistence on discovering the when, where, how and why no matter what. The two major districts of vIq'mItlh City, the orbiting dockyards, and a warehouse with more than an underbelly, all formed the backdrop to our inquiries into a murder and drug-touched colony, bearing witness to quite a few revelations. For uncovering those truths, I am therefore delighted to present everyone with the Investigation Ribbon!
She led the applause as all the lacquered boxes containing the ribbons were opened, and then dispersed throughout the room, adding to the rabble of colours pinned onto everyone's uniforms. From sabotaged shuttles, to laced vegetables, explosive Dopterian encounters, and a bathhouse turned upside down, all four teams had tirelessly worked through their obstacles like stalwart scrutineers, intent on getting to the root cause of the colony’s debilitations. Whether the governor agreed or not, they’d left the place better off, in her mind.
Once the room settled down again, the ebullient 2O continued.
Finch: As Starfleet Officers, we spend our careers in pursuit of knowledge and the wisdom of experience, strengthening our abilities so that we may then share them for the benefit of all. But it takes tremendous tenacity, and a great deal more to activate those abilities under mounting pressure. By leaping into action amidst the chaos of crossfire, Lieutenant Commander V’Lar did just this, stabilizing and ultimately saving the life of a private investigator, Ep’ehko. With great admiration, I therefore present our Chief Medical Officer with the esteemed Lifesaving Ribbon. Marvellous work, Doctor!
She joyfully lifted the ribbon from its box as the lithe woman made her way to the stage, and offered a quiet well done through a smile as stretched as her favourite wide-brimmed summer hat. Despite being caught in a struggle between Sergeant Torghen’s men and the unknown assailants the admiral’s team had been tracking, and compounded by a dampening field no less, the Vulcan woman had, under immense pressure, saved that man's life. Something he would no doubt always remember.
