As they floated around the area, Ayiana noticed they had traveled well off the official trail. She couldn’t see the marker buoys anymore. Still, they were relatively high, but deeper than expected. Off in the near distance, Ayiana noticed a grouping of lights that were clearly artificial in nature, rather than the bioluminescent creatures in the area. She pointed to the lights.

Sevo: It’s a facility of some kind. Research, perhaps? Want to take a look?

V’Lar: It is a significant deviation from the guided path. Our presence may constitute an intrusion.

Fenn: I’m always up for a detour!

Sevo: Relax; if they don’t want visitors, I’m sure they’ll have signs and warning buoys around the place.

V’Lar: A reasonable deduction. Perimeter warnings should be in place for a restricted zone. I do not detect any such beacons.

Fenn: It’s probably a museum or something. This entire planet seems to be set up as one big tourist zone. I can’t see them turning us away.

V'Lar: Shall we proceed?

Sevo: I’m game.

Fenn: Yes, let’s go.

V’Lar moved first, orienting herself towards the distant lights. She waited for the others to catch up, then headed towards the facility in a most efficient manner. Ayiana followed, struggling to keep up with V’Lar despite the Trill’s lifetime of swimming experience.

V'Lar: If we can determine whether the facility is occupied and if there are any active transmissions we may be able to theorise as to its likely purpose. Might I suggest a passive scan of the structure itself? If the structure is a research facility and if the facility is carrying out research on the local environment then active scans could prove disruptive.

Fenn: I can’t see a passive scan hurting anything.

Sevo: I’m on it.

Ayiana pulled out her special tricorder once again, and quickly scanned the local area, keeping it on passive. No active beams bursting forth.

V'Lar: What purpose do you believe it serves?

Fenn: ::with a slight chuckle:: Well hopefully we’re not about to stumble on a secret Romulan base. That wouldn’t be a great turn of events.

V’Lar: Response

Fenn: I know it’s unlikely, I was just joking. I can’t wait to see what’s inside.

Ayiana looked at the results of her tricorder scan.

Sevo: Well, no Romulan life signs. Actually, no life signs at all, as far as I can tell.

V’Lar: Response

Sevo: Can’t even detect the life signs of the fauna around the area, even though I can see them. I think the place is emitting a dampening field.

V’Lar / Fenn: Response

Sevo: No idea why. Privacy?

V’Lar / Fenn: Response

Sevo: I’m kinda curious, now. Want to check it out?

oO Just my luck. Stumble onto a drug ring or something on vacation. Oo

V’Lar / Fenn: Response
