((Aquatic Center, Ilyira, Deluvia IV))
The shark neared the tunnel and turned, giving the visitors a good look at its sleek body. Many of the visitors gasped again, this time out of wonder A few even clapped, as if this were part of a rehearsed show.
A pre-teen boy slipped past his parents and ran back up to the tunnel wall and gave it a resounding smack. The shark barrel-rolled, pivoted, and struck the tunnel with it’s tail mere centimeters from where the boys hand had landed, causing the whole structure to vibrate.
Vylaa leaned down to Spelvan’s level.
zh’Tisav: Still think it doesn’t want to get in?
zh’Tisav: Still think it doesn’t want to get in?
Sevo: I mean…it’s gotta be safe…
The zhen heard a sharp inhale from the Vulcan; all the while the vibrating tunnel made her antennae tingle, and the inside of her skull feel… itchy.
Spelvan: I am certain that the center must have security practices for situations like this one, as Ayiana previously stated.
The ocean predator turned away, only to swivel back and swim at the curved wall of the tunnel. Vylaa’s heart raced, torn between the thrill of the predatory display and her own fears.
A pleasantly-toned voice began speaking from the intercom.
Intercom: Attention all guests: please remain calm while our defenses engage.
The white tunnel lighting blinked to an angry red; meanwhile a forcefield shimmered into existence to cover the tunnel. Exterior spotlights converged on the shark and tracked it all the way to impact with the field. Vylaa became aware of a new sound, almost at the edge of her range. The shark, seemingly stunned, swam away, and the lights returned to normal.
Intercom: The attack has been repelled through a combination of shields and sonic repellers. Please do not be discouraged from your visit, and thank you for your consideration.
zh’Tisav: oO That’s what I heard. Oo
Sevo: Well…that was something.
zh’Tisav: Yeah…
At the other end of the tunnel a security officer appeared and approached the hellchild. A serious discussion seemed to take place, culminating with the boy and his parents being escorted out.
Sevo: Serves that kid right. Hope he got scared straight.
Spelvan: Perhaps he has learned the repercussions of antagonizing a wild animal.
zh’Tisav: Send him to Andoria. We’ll shake the stupid out of him.
Sevo: Vylaa, are you alright?
Spelvan: Yes, how are you faring?
zh’Tisav: My hearts going warp two...
Spelvan: I must admit, that was not an experience I would wish to repeat.
zh’Tisav: I’ve had moments like that… In the forest… On dry land…
Andoria’s taiga biomes covered huge swaths of the moon, including most of the land surrounding L’Uvan, and they weren’t exactly what you would call “tamed.” Between the wildlife and the roaming bands of Reiji, one never knew what was around the next tree.
Sevo: Response
Spelvan: Perhaps we have spent enough time looking at the fish.
zh’Tisav: That may be best.
Sevo: Response
Vylaa kept a wary eye on the water outside the tunnel, in case their shark friend came back for round two. The smaller fish had returned, and the zhen supposed that was a good sign.
zh’Tisav: Although, could we beam back to the hotel? I don’t think I’m up for a submarine ride.
Spelvan / Sevo: Response
zh’Tisav: Thanks for putting up with my crazy…
Spelvan / Sevo: Response
