((Medical Laboratory, Gibaria Outpost))
Tahna: =/\= I’ll see if we can get some relief staff from the Gorkon, trade them out for the civilian medics. =/\=
That hadn’t been possible before. Now that coming down to the outpost wasn’t an automatic death sentence…they still couldn’t afford to send very many of their own medical staff down, especially with the critical patients being sent up. But they could afford a few, surely. The Gorkon wasn’t a small ship, and her crew were the best at every level.
V’Lar: =/\= That would be highly optimal. =/\=
Pace: =/\= How’s the temperature in there, Doctor? Has it risen any higher? =/\=
V’Lar: =/\= I register no further escalation at this exact moment, Lieutenant. =/\=
Meru nodded, still looking back and forth between the moss and her console. Neither its behavior nor the readings had changed since they first noticed the increase in temperature. Was that a good thing?
Tahna: =/\= Same here. =/\=
Pace: =/\= Would you like me to juice the forcefield, Commander? As a precaution? =/\=
V’Lar: =/\= As a point of caution, given the compromised nature of the outpost, it will be neccessary to ensure there is no power interruption to the infirmary. =/\=
Meru had been trying to keep up with the power situation—it seemed it was still a work in progress. And V’Lar was right, the infirmary was the priority. They might need to find other ways to deal with the moss if the shielding went down and it…was attacked the right word? Was it accurate?
Tahna: =/\= Until the damage control team fixes up the power grid, we shouldn’t risk pulling any additional power for non-medical tasks. =/\=
Pace: Response
V’Lar: =/\= If your efforts to reinforce the containment field prove insufficient, is there a wider risk of containment failure? =/\=
Pace: Response
Meru’s hands glided over her console, checking readings and any notifications they’d received from other teams or the Gorkon. Doses of inoculant and rations were being distributed, beamed down to the outpost. Medical and the transporter techs were preparing for the arrival of several critical patients from V’Lar, and a small team from the medical department was prepping to come down to the surface to assist in the infirmary.
Tahna: =/\= It’s likely. I think they’re going to shut down parts of the power grid to stabilize it. Hopefully any area the flora gain during that time is negligible. =/\=
V’Lar: =/\= If the flora is indeed predatory and utilising radiation as a pre-digestion mechanism, it will logically seek the densest concentration of consumable biological matter, I believe that would be this section. =/\=
Pace: Response
Meru nodded.
Tahna: =/\= That’s true, yes, but this section was also the furthest from the flora when we started. We’ve only seen a bit of moss so far, I think we’ve still got some time before more deadly flora converge here. Hopefully they’ll have the power grid stabilized before that happens. =/\=
And with Doz’s team attempting to clear a path to the Gateway, it was possible they’d slowed the flora some too. Had they been successful in reaching the Gateway? Were they alright? She worried for her friend, though she tried to put the concern out of her mind—it did not serve her right now.
Pace / V’Lar: Response
Meru frowned, brow creasing, and looked at Pace.
Tahna: =/\= We could try to blockade off the infirmary. We know a physical barrier won’t stop the flora, but it might buy them time if it comes down to that. =/\=
