((Aquatic Center, Ilyira, Deluvia IV))

Ayiana, Spelvan, and zh’Tisav were in the jellyfish and cephalopod exhibit at the Aquatic Science Center. They had met a seemingly mischievous octopus that had been imitating them through its color-changing skin and tentacles. It turned out it was a form of getting their attention, for once it had it, the octopus directed them to a small holosign that indicated it was a Professor employed at the facility and the tank’s translator was malfunctioning, thus it couldn’t speak or understand anyone.

Sevo: Maybe there’s something we can do. Can we fix the tank’s translator? Or rig the holosign to translate to text?

Vylaa ran slim blue fingers around the translator's panel, as Jax’lin looked on.

zh’Tisav: Looks like a Mark XI from Quark Industries.  Yeah, it’s fixable.

Spelvan: Response

Sevo: I know I’d go insane if I was trying to communicate with other beings and they couldn’t understand me. It’d drive me nuts.

Jax’lin floated behind them, eyeing the group as they talked.

Spelvan: Response

Vylaa pulled out an engineering kit from somewhere on her body; most great engineers always had one on hand. She placed it on the ledge around the tank, opening it to show a variety of tools. Jax’lin pressed up against the glass, eyeing the tools. Ayiana assumed it realized they were going to try and fix the translator.

zh’Tisav: Keep an eye out for me, I’m pretty sure they only let employees do this.

Sevo: If they do, then why is it broken? Someone lost the maintenance schedule?

Spelvan: response

Ayiana moved next to Spelvan, blocking sight of Vylaa from the main traffic of the dome with their bodies. Of course, Vylaa’s head still stuck up over the pair, but at least no one could see what she was doing. As Vylaa worked, Jax’lin watched Vylaa’s hand movements with the tools with one eye close to the glass.

zh’Tisav: This looks like just some corroded connections.  Not really surprising with the proximity of so much salt water.  It won’t take long.

Sevo: Take your time. Don’t think anyone actually is noticing. Or cares.

Spelvan: Response

Indeed, patrons were mulling about without a care in the world to the group. They could have smashed it open and stolen the octopus and no one would care.

zh'Tisav: Ayiana, you can be our lookout.  Spelvan, let's get to scraping.

Ayiana nodded as Spelvan moved to Vylaa’s side. There was no way Ayiana’s body was covering the whole pair, but it didn’t seem to matter.

Sevo: Be quick.

Spelvan: Response

Ayiana heard the pair tinkering with the panel behind her. She gave the odd smile to passerbys but they didn’t seem to notice, or care. It went on like this for a few minutes; Ayiana idly people-watching.

Sevo: How’s it going back there?

zh’Tisav / Spelvan: Response

She noticed a uniformed person pause, look over in their direction, and start moving towards her.

Sevo: I’m only asking because I think a security guard is approaching. No pressure.

zh’Tisav / Spelvan: Response
