((Inside the Azetbur, Captain's Yacht Docking Station, USS Gorkon))
As the two engineers set about fixing an issue the yacht was experiencing running too hot, they began talking about the Andorian woman’s partners, and the elaborate process involved in a typical bonding. When the subject of telepathy cropped up, it suddenly piqued her interest even more.
Finch: Just how latent is this telepathy of yours, Vylaa? I realise it’s not something we’ve ever had an in depth discussion about. Or if we have, then I’ve hit my head against a pipe again and forgotten.
zh’Tisav: I can control it enough to block other peoples thoughts, but actively trying to communicate, or being around people who are, causes headaches. ::She rubbed the spot where her right antenna met her forehead.:: Right here.
A rippling wave of wrinkles appeared on Doz’s forehead, as she tried to get a good look. Something she had learned over the years was that telepathy wasn’t as black and white as it seemed. For some it was as natural and as powerful as weather, for others weaker and difficult to grip, and for some it could even feel staggering, like being swept away at the Festival of Yelvala.
Finch: Maybe it’s an inherited trait?
zh’Tisav: I don’t know if it’s genetic or a lack of practice. Sataa and Thyssa are the same way.
As the woman flexed her hand — that was a good sign — the Chief Engineer turned back to the panel, and continued her work dismantling and reconfiguring the source of the yacht's maladies.
zh’Tisav: It’s one of those things you can’t learn through books, and L’Uvan didn’t have enough of an Aenar or hybrid population for regular exposure back then. And going to Grandshreya’s city was a bit like being dropped into a pit of rabid targ: too much too fast.
Finch: It’s no wonder you became an engineer! Better the rattle of an old screw than the ramble of a thousand minds.
zh’Tisav: Response
Finch: I know someone who uses his telepathy to help others. Or knew someone, I suppose. Might know him again. ::She pulled a bemused expression.:: Don’t ask, It’s a bit complicated. But it has me wondering whether you can find someone to help you navigate yours. Another Aenar?
zh’Tisav: Response
