((Concordia District, Adamas))
Andrew should know better than to mention his first marriage, especially around people he didn’t fully know yet. Perhaps his anger had gotten the better of him, or him feeling guilty about his kids doing things they weren’t truly meant to without much repercussions. Either way, he had slipped up while talking about his family life.
Doran: Sorry. I don’t mean to compare.
Shardon: I know that my love.
Fenn: ::speaking cheerfully:: So did I hear right? You have children, tell us about them.
Andrew looked up, and couldn’t help but smile again, even if it was smaller than earlier. In the long run…he actually didn’t mind talking about his kids.
Sevo: Yes!
Doran: I have twins. A daughter and a son. They are half Vulcan. Since they’re fully grown, I felt like it would be okay to leave them to their own devices…for the most part.
Shardon: They’re a handful.
Fenn: They sound delightful, you both must be so proud of them. What are they up to these days?
Andrew’s smile grew a little. ‘Delightful’ was certainly one word to use for his kids, even if it didn’t necessarily apply to them.
Doran: Well…from what they told me, they are considering returning to school to earn degrees. They haven’t really told me what they want to major in, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they chose something like demolition.
Shardon: Great. That’s just what the world needs, your two wildlings blowing things up for a profession.
Shardon’s voice definitely held sarcasm in it. Andrew focused on him.
Doran: Would you rather them blow things up in the regular manner?
Shardon flattened his lips and looked uncomfortable for a few moments.
Shardon: No
Sevo: Well, sounds like you have an interesting home life. None so for me yet.
Doran: Interesting is one word for it
Shardon: Agreed
Fenn: Response
Sevo: Not this host. I’ve had children in past hosts. Each experience was different.
For a moment, Andrew was confused. Then he realized that Sevo was likely a Trill. It wasn’t a species he had been exposed to a lot, but he certainly knew they existed.
Fenn: Response
Doran: I…guess each of my kids are a little different from each other.
Shardon: They still share enough interests to be troublesome.
Andrew gave a nod in agreement. As much as he loved his kids, he knew they could be a handful. Yes, even now as adults. Perhaps he hadn’t been as strict as he should have been while they were growing up…but at least they seemed happy, and that was what mattered more to him.
Sevo: Someday, perhaps.
Fenn: Response
Doran: I think I’m a little too old to have kids now. ::He paused.:: Unless you would like to adopt?
He turned to focus on Shardon. To his husband's credit, Shardon did look thoughtful at the question.
Shardon: That is probably something we should discuss in private.
Well…that wasn’t an automatic no, so Andrew raised his eyebrows in surprise before he gave a nod in agreement.
Shardon: I fear grandchildren more.
Andrew blinked then chuckled.
Fenn / Sevo: Response.
Doran: I don’t think we have to worry about that…unless my kids adopted a child. They both prefer the same gender when it comes to dating.
Or at least so far Lucas had always had boyfriends, and Lily had brought around girlfriends. Not that Andrew minded, seeing as he was married to a man now.
Fenn / Sevo: Response.
Andrew glanced at his crewmates then fully focused on Shardon again.
Doran: We could discuss it further in private too.
Shardon gave him a searching look before he gave a singular nod. Andrew gave his husband a fond smile and wished he could take a hold of Shardon’s hand. Thankfully, he could show restraint, and he knew Shardon wouldn’t want to be that open in public.
Fenn / Sevo: Response.
