((QIn’HuD Mines, veHrom’nagh))

Gnaxac pointed to the ear defenders that he’d found. Thankfully they were blocking out the majority of the cacophonous sounds of the mining, but they did make him a little bit objectionable.

Gnaxac: ::unable to gauge his vocal register:: D-D-DOES ANYONE WANT SOME?

Basso: PLEASE!

Gnaxac handed Basso some ear defenders, and smiled when she spoke to him. Although he wasn’t entirely able to hear it, he stared at her mouth and was able to parse it out.

Basso: ::Tapping her mask and earmuffs: Thank goodness they had extras lying around. I’ll keep these in mind next time we go spelunking.

Finch: ::She chuckled.:: You’ll find there’s usually always spare equipment laying around at sites like these. Klingons may be brusque, but that’s not to be confused with a lack of common sense.

Gnaxac looked over at the nearest division, then back at Doz, a slightly confused look on her face. It had seemed a trite observation, but he didn’t want to seem indelicate.

Gnaxac: ::nodding:: Yep, it’s d-d-d-definitely an uncommon f-f-f-fence!

Basso: I doubt Ruktah’s accomplices were limited to just Gankech’s team. There may be few workers here conspiring with Ruktah.

Finch: You're quite right. We ought to tread carefully and do our best to avoid contact with them wherever possible, I think.

Gnaxac looked between Basso and Doz, and then between Doz and Basso, and deciding that they were waiting for him to contribute, he simply threw up a thumbs up, a hew-man sign for the following.

Gnaxac: Sure th-th-thing.

Doz seemed to think it out for a moment, before turning to Vesala.

Finch: Lieutenant Pace, I want you to stay behind here and run a sulphur compound analysis, see how much of it is in the air. Basso, Gnaxac, we’ll carry on—I want to take a look at that area, ::she pointed to the cordoned off tunnel,:: on our way down.

Gnaxac: S-s-see you in a moment, P-p-pace.

Basso: Response

With a rosy-cheeked smile to the Elaysian and a squeeze of the girl's shoulder, Doz led her team down the spiralling path until they reached the tunnel in question. In Klingon, various signs were hanging around, presumably warning wandering miners not to go inside. A bend prevented them from seeing what exactly it was warning them for.

Finch: Looks as though it's off limits.

Gnaxac wasn’t sure why rickets would be such a problem for the Klingons, but was saved from answering.

Basso: Response

Doz stared at her tricorder, before gesturing with a glance at a faint trail on the soil in the tunnel. Gnaxac stared at it himself, before whipping out his tricorder to analyse it.

Finch: What is that? Oil? ::She tried to adjust her tricorder, though the data kept returning inconclusive.:: Some sort of liquid?

Gnaxac: N-n-n-o, it’s some sort of l-l-liquid.

Basso: Response

Doz kneeled down to the glistening streak on the ground to get a clearer scan of the substance, and Gnaxac hunkered down next to her to read the tricorder over her shoulders.

Finch: Hydraulic fluids from mining equipment—probably a spillage. But look at the footprints leading away from it.

He stared at Doz’ lips for a moment, not entirely sure he believed he’d heard what he thought he’d heard. When he realised she was looking at actual footprints, he breathed a short sigh of relief, and gestured to them himself.

Gnaxac: Oh y-y-yes.

Basso: Response

Doz seemed to look at the pair of them with eagerness.

Finch: Basso, see if you can get a reading on whether or not there's any lifesigns through here, and Mister Gnaxac, if you wouldn't mind assessing the hazards, ::she cleared her throat,:: if it's too dangerous then we'll go back.

Gnaxac nodded and advanced gently down the tunnel a little, his tricorder arm extended to scan further down the tunnel. It seemed the threats were more that the ground was unstable and liable to be unsteady beneath their feet.

Gnaxac: F-f-footing is a little tricky, b-b-but if we follow the footsteps, we should be ok-k-kay.

Basso / Finch: Response

Gnaxac: As l-l-l-long as we step where they d-d-did, we should remain s-s-safe.

Basso / Finch: Response
