((Prifddinas Mountains, Southern Hemisphere, Deluvia IV))
Meru had expected today to be a nice, easy solo hike to their popular Overlook. But she’d packed a bag prepared for the worst, just in case (she was Starfleet, after all), and that had turned out to be a good thing. Lieutenant Vylaa zh’Tisav was here as well, and preparing to take the glacier route…and honestly, Meru couldn’t resist an invitation to a bit of thrillseeking.
Tahna: Sure. ::She smiled.:: I wouldn’t dream of falling down a crevasse without company.
zh’Tisav: Speak for yourself, I plan on staying on top of the ice.
Anyone: Response
Meru waited for the zhen to finish preparing her gear and watched the dark-furred Andorian cat frolic in the snow. She chuckled, watching the cat’s commotion.
Tahna: I’m not sure we’ll be able to keep up with her.
zh’Tisav: She won’t go far. And hopefully this will burn some of her excess energy.
Anyone: Response
Vylaa, tall and brilliantly blue, rose and started down the more treacherous of the trails with all the casual confidence of someone who grew up on ice. Meru followed behind, her steps a bit more cautious.
zh’Tisav: You know, I didn’t expect to see anyone from the ship up here. Everyone’s “beach this” and “beach that” but there’s more to a planet than sand.
Tahna: I do enjoy the beaches, and the aquatics, but the mountain trails seemed too fun not to check out.
Anyone: Response
zh’Tisav: Even Risa has icecaps, tiny though they are…
Anyone: Response
Meru smiled, crunching through the snow up to an outcropping. From here they could see the glacier properly…well, should be able to see the glacier properly, if it weren’t for the blinding glare off the ice. Perhaps Andorians were better suited to such things, but Meru certainly was not. She squinted and covered her eyes with one hand, reaching into her coat pocket for some sunglasses.
zh’Tisav: Ouch, that’s bright. Did you bring sunglasses? I have a spare pair if not but they’re not my best set. We wouldn’t want to get snowblindness.
Tahna: I did, but thank you.
zh’Tisav / Anyone: Response
She’d brought sunglasses, a combadge for emergency beaming, a first aid kit, granola bars… With the sunglasses equipped, she could actually get a look at the glacier and the path ahead for the first time. The path was marked by small bright orange flags and a noted absence of other hikers.
Tahna: Not for the faint of heart. ::She grinned.:: This’ll be an adventure.
zh’Tisav / Anyone: Response
Meru started down the path, the first marker standing out against the pure white backdrop.
Tahna: Did you do much hiking like this back on Andoria?
zh’Tisav / Anyone: Response
