((Coralis Beach, Deluvia IV))
The transporter beam had dropped Tahna and Pace onto a stretch of picturesque white sand, turquoise ocean shining behind them. Ahead were a few small open-air bars and food stands, most of which had lounging chairs. They were not the only people here, but it was still quieter than the lagoon just around the bend. There was still plenty of daylight left, but colorful candles lined the beach, and Selkie music drifted on the wind, both markings of the festival.
Tahna: That one ::She pointed at a stand covered in colorful shells.:: has a delicious fried fruit dish. It’s got this sweet icing…so good.
Meru also spotted a fried fish stand, one offering seaweed-wrapped…something (might be interesting, might be a terrible idea), one with seashell-shaped baked goods, and one offering local shaved ice dishes among the options nearby.
Pace: Oh wow, there’s so many stalls, how can anyone choose?
Tahna: What do you think? ::She grinned.:: It all looks delightfully unhealthy to me.
Pace: That fried fruit with the sweet icing is calling my name I think, want to start there?
Tahna: Absolutely.
Pace pumped her fist in the air, and Meru shot her a smile. The pair made their way carefully over the sand to the stall with the prized fried fruit. The Elaysian had ditched her usual exosuit for a cane, so Meru also tried to be aware of where the nearest available lounge chairs were to the fruit stand. Though she was sure the scientist would say something if she needed to rest.
Pace: So this festival, Tidesong, what’s it all about?
Tahna: It’s meant to celebrate the relationship between the sea and the land, and the people and creates that call this planet their home. It also correlates with an annual surge in activity for some native bioluminescent plankton.
Pace: Fascinating… they sure know how to have a good time, that’s for sure!
Tahna: They do! I think even Doctor V’Lar had an acceptable time.
Pace: Response
Tahna ordered when they reached the stall, and each received a bowl of fruit breaded and fried into unidentifiability, drizzled and served with a side of creamy, sugary sauce. She didn’t wait, popping a piece of fruit into her mouth with an unfortunate lack of regard for the fact that it was freshly fried and still hot.
Oops.
When she’d killed a couple tastebuds (worth it, actually), she turned back to Pace.
Tahna: Not my greatest idea. It’s delicious, though!
Pace: Response
Meru turned and pointed down the beach a bit, closer to the water. There were two unoccupied lounge chairs there, with a small table graced with a pop-up holographic menu for the nearby bar, so you could order drinks without leaving your seat. The ultimate in beachside luxury, she supposed.
Tahna: That looks like a good spot, what do you say?
Pace: Response
