(( Cochtois Lagoon - Deluvia IV ))

She watched Rubin chasing something in the sand. This was the difference between having a dog as a pet and Ko. If she brought him to the surface of a planet, he usually took the opportunity to climb into the trees and have a nap in there, shored by a thick branch behind his back. There was no opportunity to play catch. Either way, she wouldn’t want to miss him anymore.

Neathler: I think if we hold a poll about what place people would want to visit next, a lot would choose their own home planet.

Fenn: I can’t blame them, I certainly would. Especially considering Bolarus is just on the other side of the Beta quadrant from here.

There were so many places to visit, and yet so little time. Still, Samira was content with the places she had visited so far. Of course, she preferred those places where she didn’t have to run or fight for her life, like here back on Deluvia, with plentiful sand and beaches to walk on or to go for a swim. And there were the mountains for those who preferred something more adventurous..

E. Reynolds: I'd like to see it one day.

Samira nodded in agreement. She’d have to do some reading about Bolarus when she returned to the ship.

Marshall: Certainly looks amazing. I'd like to go hang off the Cliffs of Bole. Take Caedan. Watch him climb them like a spider.

Fenn: So when was the last time you all got to visit home?

It was a normal and an often asked question but for some people who no longer had a home to go to, it was a question they’d preferred to avoid. And the crew of the Gorkon held a few of those people. The waves of the nearby ocean continued their boundless struggle to reach the shoreline, as if nothing had happened.

E. Reynolds: The Gorkon is my home, so every day, really? ::She looked back, her smile a little taut.:: Although I'd be lying if I said I didn't scope out potential retirement spots on every shore leave, for when the day comes. Deluvia is certainly among them. I'm sure I could make some fantastic gin with the local herbs and fruits.

The answer provoked a smile on Samira’s features. Brewing one’s own drink that was something to look forward to. Their walk continued, Fenn walking beside her and Erin and Jo behind them, with the ocean on one side, its waves trying to reach them and pulling them into the water with each wave.

Fenn: I can think of worse places than here to retire, waking up here every day would be amazing. How about you Commanders? When was the last time you got to visit home?

Marshall: Quite recently, actually. We ventured that way a short while ago, to check in on the old place. It's still there, despite frequent attempts to make it not so.

Neathler: Born on a starship, I don’t really have a planet to call home. And the only time I’ve spent on Earth was during my Academy years and a couple of shore leaves. Oddly enough that first year in the Academy, I missed my home or mainly my family but over the years, I’ve built a new family here on the Gorkon. ::She looked backward for a brief moment.:: And if Deluvia is already taken by others, I’ll have to find another spot when the time comes.

E. Reynolds: ::She chuckled.:: Perhaps I'll invite you all to be my taste testers.

Fenn: ::eagerly:: Please do!

A cool but still gentle breeze accompanied them along the beach where subtle lighting paved the way.

Fenn: Any word or ideas where the ship might be headed next?

Marshall: Straight into an abyss of pirates and mythological monsters, or maybe a nest of Jem'Hadar, if I read the last emergency transmission from HQ correctly before darting out the door.

Neathler: Wherever Starfleet needs us. Maybe something scientific this time.

E. Reynolds: Response

Fenn: Personally, I hope it’s somewhere as nice as here.

Marshall: We only get that lucky if someone's gravely injured or there's some diplomacy to do and everyone needs a mai tai to relax afterwards.

E. Reynolds: Response

Samira looked up as she followed a small shadow up in the air, a local bird flying towards its sleeping place for the night. It was weird how things had changed over the years. There was a time she didn’t care about leaving the ship during shore leave, now if they were near a planet she took every opportunity she could get.

Neathler: I think we can all do with some real fresh air after being stuck on the ship for months. ::She looked sideways towards Fenn.:: Or it’s something you’ll discover after a while.

Fenn: Response

Samira continued their walk along the appointed path though she got the impression that the distance between the subtle lightning became longer in between as if indicating the path came near an end soon.

Neathler: Do you always have material to draw on with you Maezel?

Fenn: Response

Neathler: I don’t think I’d have the patience, especially with animals and nature. Animals don’t sit still and even the colours in nature change during the day.

Fenn: Response

Neathler: Still, it’s an admirable hobby to have, I’m afraid mine involve a bit more action. If you’re an early bird you can catch me running in the corridors.

She even had company now and then these days. Samira had noticed the faint murmur behind her. Erin and Jo walking some distance behind them now. She didn’t stop but lowered her pace somewhat giving them the opportunity to catch up.

E. Reynolds / Marshall / Fenn: Response
