(( Suus Mahna Practice Area - Holodeck 8 - Deck 9 - USS Gorkon ))

A Bolian, a Vulcan and a Human stood in a suus mahna practice area, its floor covered with soft mats and the large window on one side provided a magnificent view of an active volcano in a Vulcan mountain range. Though the trio wasn’t there to enjoy the spectacular view, but to learn some Vulcan defence techniques. Though they probably wouldn’t work against the Borg or hungry spacy crabs.

This felt good, both Fenn and himself had succeeded in recreating Spelvan’s situation and defence. Lachlan briefly rubbed the back of his neck, lowering his arms as he faced the others.

Crauw: What if our opponent is armed? I’m thinking of a phaser or knife. Ain’t that a bit more trickier?

Fenn: I would say if the attacker is armed and you’re not then do whatever they say. ::turning to Spelvan:: That said if the option is to fight then there must be something you can, right?

Their tutor nodded, seemingly agreeing with Fenn.

Spelvan: You are correct, Ensign Fenn. It is never wise to attempt to disarm an opponent. I do have a strategy to use in such a situation, however.

Crauw: What’s that?

He showed interest, but deep down Lachlan knew that a lot would depend on the seize and species of the opponent. They could be small or they could be a towering, bulky giant. Like a small Ferengi versus a gigantic Klingon.

Fenn: Would you be willing to show us Spelvan?

Spelvan: ::He nodded hesitantly.:: I must warn you, it is unrelated to martial arts. But yes, I can show you.

Crauw: Disarm an enemy without using martial arts?

Spelvan didn’t answer or hadn’t heard him as he stood there looking at the corner of the room after which he closed his eyes. The Vulcan’s lips barely moved.

Spelvan: Over here! Over here!

Lachlan turned towards the corner that Spelvan had gazed at earlier. Yet he didn’t see anyone else standing there. Frowning he shifted towards both ensigns.

Fenn: ::looking behind her quickly:: Wha...? ::turning back to Spelvan::  How did you do that?

Crauw: That was you?

Spelvan: Projecting one's voice is a useful distraction skill should you be, as one might say, "against a wall."

Crauw: It's a good distraction technique and with some luck it'll give us an opportunity to hide or call for help somehow.

Fenn: I’m guessing this isn’t something we can master in one class, right?

Spelvan: Response

Fenn: If it’s not a Suus Mahna technique, where did you learn it from Spelvan?

Spelvan: Response

Crauw: So you need an item that reflects sound?

Didn’t some animals back on Earth use something similar to determine their position? He was far from an animal expert though. Lachlan knew more about mixing cocktails than animals though.

Spelvan / Fenn: Response

Crauw: How about some moves when someone is sneaking up on us from behind?

He didn’t mean sneaking up. That would mean they wouldn’t even know that someone was attacking them from behind.

Spelvan / Fenn: Response

He grinned at the thought.

Crauw: And don’t tell me running away is the best option.

Spelvan / Fenn: Response
