((Research and Development Wing, Gibaria Outpost))
With very little background or knowledge in temporal mechanics, Valek unfortunately would not be very helpful. However, he would do his best to keep a tight perimeter and secure the room for other officers. With Spelvan's inquiry, Valek replied as well as the Admiral.
Valek: ::He looked at Spelvan, then her.:: Ensign, my understanding of temporal mechanics is limited; therefore, my ability to assist is limited.
Reynolds: Yes.
The team looked down at the injured woman, Valek felt what could be considered concern, but logically he knew it was just the push to get the job completed and keep everyone safe. As he watched the woman her eyes suddenly rolled back and turned solid black. Her body then stiffened and she began to rise. Spittle was forming at the corners of her mouth.
The sudden reaction made by the Kobliad female put Valek's senses on high alert, he raised his rifle in ready to fire position. Whatever was transpiring would make anything temporal related irrelevant.
Reynolds: ::Low,:: Although I'm not sure it's going to be necessary.
Valek watched the woman in her ghastly state, rising like some sort of zombified creature. In his peripheral vision, he could see Spelvan rummaging through his medical bag.
Unknown Woman: ::In a ghostly, scratchy voice:: WE ... ARE .... HERE .... WE ... ARE... .HERE ... WE ... ARE ... HERE ...
Reynolds: Who—
The unknown cylinder made a few more noises that got louder and faster, then all of sudden sparked and went quiet. The phasing in the immediate area seemed to have stabilized for now. However, the Kobliad female's body continued to transform as red vines started to cover parts of her body and down her arm, creating a claw-like appendage, much like Dr. Throka. The situation just got worse.
Without hesitating, Valek discharged a blast from his rifle, the Kobliad, even in her state, was able to dodge with uncanny quickness and then lunged at the Admiral. Luckily the Admiral was ready for the attack and was able to avoid it, however as she dodged she ended up on the ground. Valek immediately headed in her direction to try to intercept the infected Kobliad. Unfortunately, Valek was not aware of what Spelvan was doing as his immediate job was to protect the Admiral. Valek was sure Spelvan would be able to handle himself.
Valek: Ensign, I'll move to the Admiral. Provide your recommendation.
Reynolds: Stun or sedate her, whatever works. ::She skittered back again as the sound of her voice drew the attention of the Kobliad, or whatever was puppeteering her.:: No one's to risk getting hurt.
Spelvan: Yes, sir. I'll take her down.
Valek stood and moved toward the Admiral as the Kobliad's awkward movement headed toward the Admiral, Valek placed his rifle to his cheek to get a better firing position but did not have a clean shot. He was watching Spelvan out of the corner of his eye as he moved around to get a closer position to the Kobliad. As the Kobliad lurched and moved toward the Admiral, Spelvan got closer.
Valek: Ensign, an opening has been created. Act.
Spelvan quickly moved in and was able to apply the hypospray to the Kobliad as she made a very jerky attempt to attack the Admiral. The Kobliad made an odd sounding squeal, then dropped unconscious to the floor.
Spelvan: She's... she's... s-stable. Unconscious. For now. If... if her case is anything like Dr. Throka's, the mutations might kill her quickly, unless we are able to reverse it somehow.
Moving quickly, Valek got near the Admiral and put himself in between the unconscious Kobliad and the Admiral. His phaser barrel pointing center mass. He was impressed with the quick action of Spelvan, as this situation could have gone very badly indeed.
Valek: Ensign, your actions were commendable. I have restraints; however, they may not be sufficient to contain her. Logic dictates that we determine whether an inoculant exists or establish an effective means of containment should she awaken.
Reynolds: Response
Spelvan: Maybe the data we've been searching for is in here. We should... try to see if we can access anything on these stations.
Valek looked over at the large cylinder, the console monitors and switches were unfamiliar to him. That would be a tall task and the only Engineer in the room was the Admiral.
Valek: Admiral, you are best suited to access the data from that system. I can provide assistance as required
Reynolds: Response
As Spelvan assisted the Admiral back to her feet, Valek took another look around the dark room. No other movement and the hum of the machine was completely gone.
Spelvan: ::Slowly, in an effort to keep his tone even,:: Are you both unharmed?
During the quick exchange with the Kobliad, Valek did not seem to be harmed at all. A quick internal check produced nothing out of sort.
Valek: I have sustained no injuries. I am in optimal condition.
Reynolds/Spelvan: Response
Another issue concerned him. The cylinder system appeared to be offline. How would they be able to power it back up? With the large surge that occurred he wondered if the device would even be operational.
Valek: Admiral, Ensign, there is one question. Can the system be powered to operational status?
Reynolds/Spelvan: Response
Moving around the room, but not too far from the Admiral, Valek scanned with his eyes. Looking for any generators or power conduits that may help. He wondered if there could be a backup power source or the main power source just tripped and needed a reset. All good questions for a seasoned Engineer like the Admiral.
Valek: Admiral, I can maintain security over the Kobliad while you and Ensign Spelvan proceed with powering the system. Please advise.
Reynolds/Spelvan: Response
