(( Unknown Facility, Deep Trenches, Deluvia IV ))
V’Lar had managed to connect Ayiana’s emergency bracelet to the communication system and find the police band. She was ready to call them if needed. Fenn had also succeeded in setting up a comm line down to the Nausicaan down below.
It was audio only, so Ayiana didn’t have to look professional and authoritative in her skintight wetsuit. She simply stood with her hands clasped behind her back and spoke as Fenn nodded to her that the line was open.
Sevo: =/\= Attention unknown Nausicaan frantically rummaging through those crates. This is Starfleet. What in blazes are you doing down there? =/\=
Ayiana smirked as she watched the man on the monitors frantically stand up and move his head around, looking for the speaker. He had pulled out a weapon as well.
Nausicaan: =/\= What the...! Starfleet!?!? What are you doing here? Who let you in? Show yourselves cowards! =/\=
Fenn: ::Whispering to V’Lar:: Friendly specimen isn’t he...
V’Lar: ::Whispering to Fenn:: Hardly.
Sevo: =/\= Hey, I asked first. What are you doing? =/\=
Nausicaan: =/\= ::Shouting angrily:: I’m not answering any of your questions! Leave this place immediately! =/\=
V'Lar looked to Ayiana then gestured for Fenn to mute the audio.
Fenn: Response
V’Lar: His reaction is not surprising. He is attempting to assert control over a situation in which he has none. Perhaps, if he believed the situation was other than it in fact is, he would be motivated to comply?
She observed the Nausicaan on the monitor; he was gesturing angrily whilst still frantically scanning the room, trying to identify the source of the Ayiana’s voice.
Sevo: Question is, is he frantic that he’s been caught, or that he really owns this place and we’re intruding?
Fenn: Responses
V’Lar: As a Vulcan, I cannot articulate a falsehood.
Sevo: oO Bullshit. Oo
V’Lar: However... if we were to provide a statement containing sufficient semantic ambiguity, the subject may interpret that data incorrectly. If he then bases his decisions on that flawed interpretation, that is merely cause and effect. It would not be lying, simply... allowing him to be wrong.
The mental gymnastics at play here were astounding.
V’Lar: Being wrong is a state with which he is likely well acquainted.
Ayiana had to stifle a laugh at that. V’Lar was basically calling the Nausicaan stupid. Which wasn’t far from the truth in most encounters.
V’Lar: Alternatively, one of you could simply lie to him.
Sevo: oO Oh, so its fine if *we* do it. Oo
Sevo: It pretty much comes down to if he’s a thief like it looks, or really owns the place.
Fenn / Nausicaan: Response
Ayiana thought about it for a minute. Probably the best thing to do was outthink him; make him give up information. She wasn’t the greatest at interrogation (at least not outside of Skarbek).
Sevo: Open it back up. Let’s see what we can get out of him.
V’Lar / Fenn / Nausicaan: Response
Sevo: =/\= Sorry about that. Just had to check some things here. Thing is, I don’t see any Nausicaans listed as workers or owners here. So that makes you a trespasser. =/\=
She decided to leave it ambiguous as to how many people were here; as far as he knew, Ayiana was the only Starfleet officer here. And *technically* they were trespassing too. But she didn’t let that point slip.
V’Lar / Fenn / Nausicaan: Response
Sevo: =/\= See, I was just out enjoying a nice dive when I saw this mysterious facility not listed on any maps, and had no signage of any kind. It was also emitting a dampening field that confused my navigation. I was irked. So I said to myself, ‘Myself, what is going on over there? It looks suspicious.’ Don’t suppose *you* know what’s going on here? =/\=
V’Lar / Fenn / Nausicaan: Response
Sevo: =/\= How about that shuttle that lifted off the roof not too long ago? They didn’t happen to be friends of yours, leaving you behind, were they? =/\=
V’Lar / Fenn / Nausicaan: Response
