V'Lar: Then I shall configure the transmission accordingly. Do you wish for me to transmit now or wait until the intruder's status is confirmed?

Sevo: Let’s wait. Fenn, how’s it coming with a line downstairs?

V'Lar gave a short nod, acknowledging the command.

Fenn: ::tapping at her console:: All done Commander. I can give you audio as well as visual via the security cameras now. Well, two-way audio but he can’t see us through the cameras.

Sevo: Good. Bring the guy up on the security monitors.

Fenn: ::tapping at her console:: On screen now Commander.

V'Lar maintained her position at the communications interface but shifted her attention to the primary security monitor as the image once more displayed the Nausicaan.

Sevo: Ensign, open a channel to his location.

Fenn: Audio is active.

Sevo: =/\= Attention unknown Nausicaan frantically rummaging through those crates. This is Starfleet. What in blazes are you doing down there? =/\=

V'Lar raised a single eyebrow at the choice of approach. Given the seemingly unauthorised presence of the Nausicaan, she could not fault the directness, but had expected something a little more... traditional.

Nausicaan: ::Flinching with surprise, he drew his sidearm and looked around frantically:: What the...! Starfleet!?!? What are you doing here? Who let you in? Show yourselves cowards!

V'Lar noted the immediate escalation; he had drawn a weapon and was visually scanning the room wildly. His fight-or-flight response had triggered the former.

Fenn: ::Whispering to V’Lar:: Friendly specimen isn’t he...

She turned her head slightly to acknowledge Ensign Fenn's whisper. The Bolian's use of irony was ill-timed, but accurate in its reverse meaning.

V’Lar: ::Whispering to Fenn:: Hardly.

Sevo: Response

Nausicaan: ::Shouting angrily:: I’m not answering any of your questions! Leave this place immediately!

oO We are in an unlisted submerged facility; leaving immediately is unfeasible. Oo

Sevo: Response

V'Lar looked to Commander Sevo then gestured for Fenn to mute the audio.

Fenn: Response

V’Lar: His reaction is not surprising. He is attempting to assert control over a situation in which he has none. Perhaps, if he believed the situation was other than it in fact is, he would be motivated to comply?

She observed the Nausicaan on the monitor; he was gesturing angrily whilst still frantically scanning the room, trying to identify the source of the Trill's voice.

oO He is attempting to intimidate an empty room. His mental acuity appears to be subpar. Oo

Fenn / Sevo: Responses

V’Lar: As a Vulcan, I cannot articulate a falsehood. However... if we were to provide a statement containing sufficient semantic ambiguity, the subject may interpret that data incorrectly. If he then bases his decisions on that flawed interpretation, that is merely cause and effect. It would not be lying, simply... allowing him to be wrong.

She watched as the Nausicaan lifted a crate, seemingly checking to ensure the Starfleet team were not hiding under it.

V’Lar: Being wrong is a state with which he is likely well acquainted.

She paused, looking between the two officers.

V’Lar: Alternatively, one of you could simply lie to him.

Fenn / Sevo: Responses
