((Sickbay Lab, Deck 7, USS Gorkon))

Having completed his exam of the Gorkon’s newest ensign, Spelvan hovered in front of the door to the lab, where he knew his superior, Chief Medical Officer V'Lar, was working.

Spelvan was not even sure what he hoped to achieve by coming to speak with V'Lar. It had all gone wrong on the planet - why should he expect now would be any different?

The Vulcan supposed he wanted a mutual understanding - of how their conversation went awry and how they could foster a better connection in the future. Not liking a colleague was one thing - harboring fear and anger towards a superior, as Spelvan had been doing, was another.

He straightened his posture, steeling himself to enter. The Vulcan was determined to try and meet V'Lar where she was. He had seen the exasperation on her face when he had attempted to make conversation with Ensign Verdan - he would speak to her in the Vulcan way.

Something made Spelvan uneasy about the cross-section diagram of the Vulcan brain that he saw when he first entered the lab. He had no reason to suspect V'Lar of researching anything dangerous - but he still could not shake the feeling that he would not like what she was doing if he knew what it was.

He tore his eyes away from the diagram and looked back at V'Lar.

Spelvan: Doctor, I wish to discuss our conversation at N'Vea Hospitals.

V'Lar: Response

Simple and to the point. Spelvan had forgotten what it was like to discuss things with other Vulcans. His diction and attitude had changed so much (at least by Vulcan standards) that it was like trying to put his feet into shoes that were too small.

Spelvan: I would like to apologize for my outburst. I had a... friend during my time at the Academy who ceased contact when he found out about my brother. I did not wish to repeat the experience.

V'Lar: Response

S'Vonn had been more than a friend, of course. They had helped each other through homesickness and homework and eventually, even tended to each other during their pon farrs.

Spelvan never did discover how S'Vonn had found out, but once he did, it was over. Spelvan received a curt goodbye message and was subsequently blocked on all channels. Such was the stigma of v'tosh katur among some Vulcans.

He hadn't wanted V'Lar's perception of him to change so swiftly like S'Vonn's had. But now he supposed he had poisoned their relationship from the start instead.

Spelvan: It was illogical of me to assume that you would proceed in the same way, were you to learn the information as he did.

V'Lar: Response
