((Deep Trenches, Deluvia IV))
Ayiana discovered some lights in the near distance, which looked like it came from a facility of some kind. Curious, the group headed towards it. Ayiana dutifully scanned it with her tricorder as they approached. Curiously, she couldn’t detect any life signs as they approached. None at all.
Sevo: Can’t even detect the life signs of the fauna around the area, even though I can see them. I think the place is emitting a dampening field.
V’Lar: Logic dictates that when the instrument contradicts the observable reality, the instrument is compromised. Assuming your tricorder is functioning within parameters, a dampening field is the only rational conclusion.
Fenn: Response
Sevo: No idea why. Privacy?
V’Lar: There are a number of potential reasons. However, regardless of the motivation, the effect is the obstruction of our ability to gain sensor data.
Fenn: Response
Sevo: I’m kinda curious, now. Want to check it out?
oO Just my luck. Stumble onto a drug ring or something on vacation. Oo
V’Lar: The facility appears unlisted and shielded. I would advise caution.
Sevo: For sure.
Fenn: Responses
V’Lar: If this facility is active, then to enter without permission would be considered trespassing. Does the desire to explore sufficiently outweigh the potential risk?
Sevo: Kind of, for me. I mean, there’s no explicit signs saying no trespassing.
Fenn: Responses
V’Lar: If we withdraw now to report this structure, our report would be substantively empty. It could be argued that to return without data, when the means of acquisition are available to us, would be inefficient.
Curiously, V’Lar was using logic to justify a potential trespassing.
V'Lar: For clarity, I am not suggesting that I would make such an argument.
Sevo: For clarity. Of course.
Fenn: Responses
With a smirk, Ayiana set off towards the facility, making sure to stay relatively obscured by the coral and kelp. As she approached, she could make it out more clearly. It sat in the open ocean. No dome over it. So either it had airlocks inside, or it was being operated by aquatic people. Curious.
Sevo: No dome. What do you think? Airlocks? Or aquatic-ran?
V’Lar / Fenn: Response
Suddenly, there was a muffled noise coming from the facility. She looked over and saw a space-designed shuttle rise from inside the roof, and take off through the ocean towards the surface.
Sevo: That shuttle definitely isn’t a Starfleet design. Selkie?
V’Lar / Fenn: Response
Sevo: It doesn’t look like a standard Pacifican design, but I’m not that familiar with their building aesthetics.
V’Lar / Fenn: Response
Sevo: This just gets curiouser and curiouser.
V’Lar / Fenn: Response
