The trio of officers continued making their way to the server room, hopefully finding some more relevant data and the possible whereabouts of Dr. Gamoya. Valek was still a bit sore even though Spelvan was able to heal the majority of his bruises and contusions. His brain was still ringing with his father's words on controlling fear, there must be a reason his thoughts took him back to that time. He was also curious if he was able to strike the entity before he was knocked down.

Valek: Admiral, Ensign, I discharged my weapon prior to incapacitation. Was there any evidence the entity was struck? And why did it withdraw without engaging you?

Reynolds: I barely saw anything in the dark. ::She frowned.:: If I had to guess? It attacked you in panic or self-defence. It would explain why it left us alone and why it left so quickly.

Spelvan: I agree with the Admiral again. Unclear whether your shot hit the entity - if it did, I do not believe it had a discernible effect. Perhaps it determined that we were not a threat.

Valek: ::Nodding slightly:: That is unexpected. I was confident the target had been struck.

They reached the server room without any other encounters or incidents. The door was open fully and at first glance did not appear to show any signs of violence. However the room was covered in red spores, flora, vines and foliage, pulsing but otherwise doing nothing else. Valek would very much like to find Dr. Gamoya or at least find out what might have happened to her. The longer they remain in this facility, the shorter their chance of survival would be.

Reynolds: Lovely. Can we pass through, as long as we don't point our tricorders at it?

Spelvan: ::With a hint of a smile,:: We could certainly give it a try.

Valek: The alien flora appears to be in a dormant state. It is therefore possible we may proceed without incident.

Spelvan moved first and slowly stepped through the doorway. Hands up, Valek assumed in an attempt to not touch the flora. Valek kept his rifle slightly down but still in a position to be ready to fire quickly. He wasn't sure how sentient this flora was, so he didn't want to appear threatening. The mold moved slowly out of his way as he moved deeper into the room. Valek was intrigued. Once Spelvan was a few feet away he slowly followed. Then the Admiral.

Reynolds: Any sign of our... entity?

Spelvan: No... I would scan for life-signs but I do not want to spook our new... friends.

Valek moved closer to Spelvan and scanned the room with his eyes, keeping his rifle as high as possible to still be able to use the torch. The room wasn't very large and had several computer towers, some in the  middle of the room, others against the far wall, only one on the far wall had working LEDs, indicating it was the only functional unit. Close to the modules was a small console, also appearing to have power currently.

Valek: Admiral, one data module remains active. I detect no plant life in the surrounding area.

Reynolds: Response

As they moved around the middle computer towers they noticed the flora starting to move more. It started to cover the entrance to another room. The room was dark and Valek's sharp hearing did not detect any noises from within. The running computer tower and console was a few meters to the right of the dark doorway.

Spelvan: Hm. Intriguing.

Valek: Indeed, Ensign. The entity may be located beyond that entry. The flora may be functioning as a defensive mechanism.

Reynolds: Response

Suddenly their PADDS chirped, indicating an incoming message. Spelvan slowly reached down to access it. Careful movements. Valek and Reynolds turned toward him as he read the message.

Spelvan: The power plant team seems to be poised to reboot systems on their end, so perhaps we should avoid accessing any consoles until they are completed.

Valek: I concur with Ensign Spelvan. While the system is being restored, we might investigate the adjacent room, if the flora permits entry.

Reynolds / Spelvan: Response

As the team waited for the inevitable reboot of the power systems, the three officers moved a bit closer to the darkened room. The flora and spores moved a bit closer to the door frame but did not fully cover, or block it. Valek moved forward a bit but this time, waited cautiously for Reynolds and Spelvan to be close to him. He would rather take the risks himself, but the Admiral gave him orders. So, to his best ability, would try to follow them to the letter, even though it uneased him a bit.

He was about a half a meter away from the door, it was completely dark. He moved his rifle up slowly so he could use the torch. The room appeared to have several more computer towers, all powered off or completely disabled. Something caught the edge of his light, he wasn't sure but it did appear to move slightly, as if breathing. It was humanoid in size, and appeared to be sitting down, back against one of the towers.

Valek: ::shining his torch through the doorway:: Admiral, Ensign, I detect a single life form within the room. It is seated and breathing at a reduced rate. No other movement is evident.

Reynolds / Spelvan: Response

Valek: Admiral, Ensign, I recommend non-electronic entry and direct evaluation of the life form’s condition. Visual inspection indicates no flora infestation on the subject. Orders Admiral?

Reynolds / Spelvan: Response
