to Gemini

((Shuttle Landing Area, Surface of Garridon V))

::As his people worked on finding a way to get in contact with the Gemini, and coming up with an alternate plan, Alex could only think of one thing.::

oO I wish these uniforms came with a waterproof option. Oo

::Alex didn’t have long to think about how wet every stich of fabric on his person was. After a couple of seconds, the lightning started again. Alex could not remember a time in his life when he was afraid of storms, even as a child he was comfortable with them, but something was different about these storms. They were scary and the lightning was exponentially worse than anything he had seen before.::

Blair: The lightning’s back, everyone had better head indoors!

Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response

::Alex turned to head back towards the C&C when another bolt of lightning, causing him to jump.::

oO That one sounded close! Oo

::Alex took a few more steps towards the relative safety of the building before a particular sound, one he hadn’t heard in a long time, stopped him dead in his tracks. It sounded as if something was falling from the sky.::

oO The shuttle! Oo

::Alex diverted his eyes to the sky and started scanning for the Scott. It was like a nightmare come true. About five hundred meters away at an altitude of about one thousand feet he saw the shuttle falling; and it was falling fast. Alex’s mind immediately went to the two officers he had aboard that vessel as he stood completely unable to anything about it but watch.::

Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response

oO Starfleet builds those things properly, they should be able to survive, right? Oo

::As he tried to convince himself that Moore and Shayne would make it, Alex watched in horror as the Scott collided with the surface. He watched as the small vessel crumpled from the impact leaving almost nothing left of the cockpit.::

Blair: We have to help them. Do whatever you can! Doctor what’s the chance that they survived impact?

Nicholotti: response

Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson: response

::Along with the others, Alex ran towards the impact sight. For the moment, his mission on the surface faded away and all Alex could think of was the fact that two people under his command may have just died in a horrific accident. As he approached the shuttle, Alex headed for the rear hatch when he felt a familiar sensation. A moment later, the surface of Garridon V had vanished along with the rain. It had all been replaced by the semi-sterile setting of a Starfleet flight deck.::

((Flight Deck - USS Daedalus))

::Alex had barely regain a sense of situational awareness when he heard a very loud whistle. A moment later he saw two Starfleet officers standing before the sea of people who had all been on the surface moments before.::

Cody: Ladies and gentlemen. First, let us apologize. We determined there wasn't enough time to inform you, and rather than establish communications, decided the best course of action was to descend and beam all of you directly onto the ship. You are aboard the USS Daedlaus, a Prometheus-Class Starfleet vessel. We are currently ascending off planet, which based on what little I saw, I'm sure we're all glad to get off. ::indicating Scythe:: This is Lt.Cmdr. Elizabeth Scythe, the first officer of this vessel. I am Commander David Cody, temporarily commanding this vessel, although it is not my permanent command.

::As the man spoke, Alex slowly made his way towards him, gently pushing others aside to make a hole for him to walk through. He had made it close enough to get a good look at Cody before he finished talking.::

Blair: Why are we aboard your vessel and not the Gemini, Commander?

Cody: We have been told there are members of the Gemini staff among you. The Gemini is in orbit and we will arrange to have you beamed back aboard your vessel in short order. ::eyes searching:: Where is the Intelligence officer in change of this outpost operation?

::At the mention of Weston, Alex felt a sudden urge to protect his friend and crewmate. As Oliver stepped forward, Alex joined him.::

Weston/anyone: response?

Cody: I'm afraid we'll need to hold onto you for a bit, as we both know how Intelligence likes to be updated on a timely matter. ::sympathetic:: I'm afraid we're going to have to debrief you, Mr. Weston.

Weston: response

::Alex took another step and positioned himself between Cody and Weston.::

Blair: Hold on a moment there Commander. LtCmdr Weston is a member of my crew and will not be going anywhere with anyone until I can account for all members of my team.

Cody/Weston/anyone: response

Blair: I understand that this is you ship, but I have a responsibility to my people as well. Now, I had two people aboard a shuttle that had just crashed. Were your people able to beam them out as well?

Cody: response

::Alex was almost afraid to ask his next question, but couldn’t think of a better way to find out the information.::

Blair: Okay then, what’s their status? Did they make it?

Cody/Anyone: response

::With his question answered, Alex stepped back and gave Oliver a knowing nod.::

Blair: In that case, I won’t delay any longer. I have one simple thing to ask though, please transfer my people back to our ship as soon as possible.

Cody/Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response
