(( Shuttle Scott, transport compartment ))

Carr: Ensign Siya Irri Isses Carr, by the way. Nice to meet you.

:: The woman nodded in greeting. She wore a black Marine uniform, probably for night camouflage, and the medkit she carried hinted at her function. A combat medic? Siya noticed with some perplexity that she wore no indication of rank. ::

Nicholotti: Kalianna Nicholotti. Doctor.

:: Still no mention of a rank, which Siya found decidedly strange. She gestured towards her medkit just as the Marine next to her introduced himself. ::

Jones: Vincent Jones. Friends call me Jonesy.

:: Black uniform too. The doctor had called him "Chief" back there. About her own size and build, which was agreeable for once. ::

T’Mar/Mayne/Inde/Anyone: response

:: She was about to reply with some polite greetings of her own when the intercom cut the niceties short. ::

Blair: Hang on everybody, things are about to get a little rough.

:: Later, Siya would consider this as the understatement of the year. ::

(( Timeskip, Garridon V Surface, Shuttle Scott ))

:: Okay. Time to sum up the situation.
The ride had been rough indeed, and Siya was pretty sure her claws had left a mark here and there at some point as she tried to keep her balance.
Then, there had been the sight of Moore, the woman with red fur, skydiving through the storm with flares to light up the way. Siya found the manoeuver daring, bordering suicidal, and the fact that the FO didn't seem to have been informed informed beforehand worrying for her future aboard the Gemini.
Then, a giant bat had attacked Moore, before being driven away, with the help of two human denizens of the planet.
Then, the two drenched humans, one of which was apparently the Weston they had come to rescue, plus Moore, had made their way back inside the shuttle, and all the humans including the FO had started behaving in a very rude manner, yelling and slapping each other.
Apes...

The doctor had gone out of the shuttle for a moment, and Siya would have liked to follow her and get some fresh hair away from the arguing primates, but she couldn't properly move in the presently crowded confines of the Scott.
She set to cover the door, in hope that she would'nt be dragged into the... conversation before it had abated or gotten interesting in any respect. ::

Weston: Two hundred and forty civilian's are inside, and an army of those monsters are outside.  We need to protect them and get them off world, and it looks like we've got the muscle to do at least the second bit.  Here's the sitrep;

:: Which it just had. ::

Weston: They're poisonous, capable of some flight if the wind is low, and they hate bright light and fire.  They can be shot, stabbed, run over, they die just like us, but they're bigger and durable. The fact that my flare killed one is incredible however, so fire might be a bigger asset then I thought.

:: Mentally, she reviewed what she knew of chiroptera in general. The wings were generally a weak spot, as the patagium was susceptible to tears and the articulations broke rather easily; however, if Weston's expertise was to be believed, these creatures didn't use their wings to fly over long distances, so crippling them might prove only mildly effective... The poison was also a source of concern. Siya had a venom of her own, and knew firsthand that it could make a huge difference if properly used. ::

Weston: Our people are spread between four buildings. :: He gestured right behind him. :: The command and control centre has the lions share, and the twenty odd Starfleet on the planet.  The other three out buildings are there, there and there. :: He gestured to each through the bulkhead of the Scott.
::

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston:  The ground is a quagmire, even the steel paths are sinking.  We'll have to defend every group of survivors to the life boats and protect them from the creatures.

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

:: The orders were clear. The hunt would wait. She was Starfleet Security, and her role was to protect civilians and other Starfleet personel. She shifted her thought process from hunt and agression to defense.
There was little she could do, however. She had received a minimal briefing, and didn't even know what kind of gear they had brought along. ::

Carr: :: Without averting her eyes from the door:: If these creatures are photophobic, a brightly-lit landing area would be doubly beneficial. We should also consider cannibalizing equipment from the base to provide the evacuating groups with powerful light sources operating on batteries.

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston:  Good call.  We can definitely try to do that.  It might help keep them away from the groups.

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston:  That window is closing.  At this point I'm not sure we even have five minutes, but we can get a clearer answer once we move into Cee and Cee.  We have people monitoring the stormfront.

:: Oh, well. At least it wasn't too cold. Wind and rain she didn't mind, but she hated cold. It made her reflexes sloppy. ::

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston:  Honestly I think now is the only time we're going to get a good shot at getting two boatloads out of here.  If the Scott and the Danube can each get full evac out of here before the big one hits...well that's nearly one hundred souls out of the storm.  But we'll need doctors on both boats because those things won't let us get our people there unmolested.

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Carr: I would respectfully advise securing the landing site first. Sending its coordinates to the Gemini could also enable them to send more shuttles to evacuate.

T’Mar/Shayne/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston: Alright.  :: He turned towards the exit and looked outside warily.  :: Those things were waiting out there, held back by the lights and a lack of targets. Oh, and if you get split up, don't hide.  They are using some kind of echo location...we think.  Just run.

T’Mar/Shayne/Carr/Mayne/Inde/Larson/Blair/Nicholotti/Moore: Response?

Weston:  Everyone ready?

:: Siya looked at the FO and the two people in Marine gear. As far as she was concerned, they were the ones whose lead she would follow on that mission. ::
