Frost: What was that? Was it the Away team?

::The static that filled the bridge's speakers was promising. Adriana
looked at her console as the counselor answered.::

Riel: Array online and transmitting. We have established communications
with either Scott or the settlement. :: Turning to Gina :: Do you think
you could determine which probes are receiving and relocate the others
to improve the signal?

Es-Aleh: Give me a moment...

::The moment passed as if it were a whole year. When you needed and
wanted something right then, it was hard to be patient.::

Es-Aleh: Okay, that any better?

Morgan: Not sure it's stable, but it's better than what we had!

::And that was promising, at least moreso than it had been before.
Little steps were all they could take right now, but that was alright as
long as those steps propelled them forwards.::

Frost: Keep working at it. And try a replay in case they're having
better luck with their reception.

Morgan: Aye, sir.

Es-Aleh: Try relaying it through drone 4. It's parked almost right over
the outpost.

Riel: We could use visual signals to send them our message even if the
storm messes up with their comms, but I think the main problem lies
between us and our probes.

::Among things. Adri wasn't sure any of this was really supposed to
work, but they were lucky that it was.::

Morgan: I'll need access to the probes to transmit that reply. The
weather is too dynamic to keep them stationary.

Es-Aleh: They're all yours, Commander.

::The control transferred easily enough and soon she was working some
magic. Signals bounced like pinballs and she thought that she almost had
it all lined up right...::

Frost: I just hope they managed to get down there safe. If they can get
a message through, give them whatever they need. There are no
restrictions until our people are back.

:: It sounded like a lot, but most captains would do the same. With so
many senior officers on the ground, it only made sense to offer up
anything and everything.::

Es-Aleh: I'll start plotting some contingencies, sir. Just in case.

:: It had to be magic, or pure coincidence that brought the probes in
line at that moment. Somehow she managed to transmit a response, telling
those on the ground that they had more resources at their disposal and
asking for a sitrep if they could send one. Hopefully they would.::

Morgan: I've managed to get a message away, but I won't be sure that
they got anything until we hear from them again.

::At which point the counselor had a thought of his own.::

Riel: If we want to evacuate everyone on the planet in the next few
hours, we'll need to send every shuttle we can as soon as the away team
has secured a landing location. Better get the engines running.

Es-Aleh: Don't envy the pilots.

:: Nor did Adri. She shook her head despite knowing that it needed to be
done.::

Frost: ?

Morgan: With each passing moment, the storms get worse...I'm not sure it
will be possible to land the shuttles much longer.

::She was stating the obvious, but felt it needed to be stated anyways.::

Riel: Well, that's not my field of expertise at all, but... could
unmanned shuttles and beam-guiding do the trick?

Frost: ?

::To that, Adri had no idea. Remaining quiet, she let the others discuss
the possibility of an unmanned shuttle.::

Es-Aleh: Normally, I'd think it was a good plan, but with the
interference out there? ::shaking her head with an apologetic shrug::
I'd be happy to be wrong, but I'd honestly not recommend it.

::And thinking about it, neither would she.::

Morgan: I think there's something to be said for a real pilot who can
use their skills to do what a computer might not be able to...

Frost/Riel: ?

Morgan: Either way, we need to do something, and we need to do it quickly.

Frost/Riel/Es-Aleh: Response?
