((Shuttle Landing Area, Garridon V))
::As the group quickly made their way back towards the shuttle, Alex started to get a clearer picture of what was happening through the rain.::
Blair: That looks like one of those creatures!
T’Mar/Larson/Weston: response
Nicholotti: They need to get out of there.
::Alex watched as the creature atop the shuttle dug it’s claws into the
duranium hull and started ripping panels off. Where the panels once were,
sparks began flying demonstrating the damage being done to the shuttle’s
systems. Alex knew that it was only a matter of time before the Scott would
become unflyable.::
Blair: =/\= Shayne, Moore get out of there! That thing’s going to tear the
shuttle apart! =/\=
Moore: =/\= This is Moore. Shayne is going to launch! We'll take the Scott up
and see if we can't ditch our hitchhiker in the storm! If I may make a
suggestion? Let's get the civilians into groups we can encompass in the
shuttle. Once assembled, we'll fly back down for emergency boarding procedures!
=/\=
::For the moment, Alex’s frustration with Moore completely vanished. He could understand their though processes and agreed. Alex chose not to respond yet but looked back at Weston and Bartholomew.::
Blair: How quickly can you get the first group of people ready for transit?
Weston/Bartholomew: response
Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson: response
Blair: Well, I suggest you get moving on it. We won’t have too many more shots at this.
Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti:
response
Moore: =/\= I'd recommend getting the other shuttle launched, too, sir! Sucks
having to fly in these conditions, but if keeps the shuttles safe... =/\=
Carr/Mayne/T'Mar/Larson/Weston: response
Blair: =/\= Carr, Mayne, what’s the plan? We can’t just let that thing tear the
Scott apart! =/\=
Carr/Mayne: response
Blair: We have to do something! Our whole evac plan depends on that shuttle
maintaining its space worthiness!
Nicholotti: Let them launch, they'll be back. Let's have the first group ready
for when they are.
T’Mar/Larson/Weston: response
Blair: =/\= Lieutenant Shayne you have my permission to launch, get to a safe
altitude and wait for our signal to come back down. =/\=
Shayne: response
Blair: ::looking at Weston and Bartholomew:: If you have a talented enough pilot, get them in the runabout. I want it prepared to launch at a moment’s notice.
Weston/Bartholomew: response
::As the Scott took off, Alex followed the others into a
building that looked as if it would off at least a little more protection than
the open space of the landing area. As they entered, Alex became keenly aware
of the large number of people inside.::
Nicholotti: I guess this is a good way to pick that first group, eh? Where are
the others hiding?
Weston: Response
::For the first time Alex realized something, while he was in no way, shape, or form in command on the planet, he had been issuing orders to just about everyone.::
oO I guess I’ve adapted to my new role as First Officer. Have to be careful though, I might be stepping on someone’s toes. Oo
Blair: I agree this group would make a good first choice.
Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response
::As the conversation continued, the sound of an explosion outside quieted everyone down and caused Alex to go running bac out into the rain. Despite the fact that the rain effectively killed all visibility it was plainly obvious what had happened.::
oO I’ve never seen anything like that! Oo
::Alex had made it out the door just in time to see lightning strike the runabout. Normally that would have been no problem, but this was no normal lightning. It was brighter than any Alex had ever seen and apparently much more powerful as there was almost nothing left of the spacecraft.::
Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response
::Alex didn’t have time to respond as his mind immediately drifted to his people on the Scott. Alex slapped his combadge as quickly as he possibly could.::
Blair: =/\= Shayne, Moore get that shuttle back on the ground now! =/\=
Shayne/Moore: response
Blair: =/\= That’s an order! There’s no time for argument! =/\=
Shayne/Moore: response
Blair: =/\= A severe bolt of lightning has just destroyed the runabout and I’m not taking any chances with you guys. =/\=
Shayne/Moore: response
::With the shuttle on its way back to the surface, Alex looked to those who had followed him back outside.::
Blair: Our fleet of shuttles have officially been grounded. I need suggestions on how to evacuate all these people.
Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response
Blair: And someone work on a way to get in touch with the Gemini!
Weston/Bartholomew/Carr/Mayne/T’Mar/Larson/Nicholotti: response
